Daryl Hall and John Oats were having dinner in a Melbourne restaurant when a guy in a ski mask burst in brandishing a sawed-off shotgun. One hostage took out her purse, and as the robber bent down to look inside it, the chef punched him in the face. John then pounced, knocking the robber through the glass door just as the local police came up the stairs. John held his foot on his wrist while the cops seized the weapon and arrested him. Turns out, he was a wanted criminal, the Rusty Gun Bandit.
Hall & Oates were one of the biggest bands of the '80s and '90s.
