The longtime girlfriend of late actor and singer Johnny Ruffo has broken her silence on social media following his devastating death 10 days ago.
Tahnee Sims, 29, returned to Instagram overnight to pay tribute to the Home and Away star, who lost his six-year fight with cancer earlier this month. He was 35.
In an emotional video montage, Sims shared never-before-seen footage of the couple in happier times as they enjoyed strolls on the beach, vacations in the snow, and many other adventures in their eight-year relationship.
“A forever love,” Sims captioned the post while adding a broken-heart emoji.
The video sparked a flood of comments from her many followers, including Ruffo’s former Home and Away co-star Lynne McGranger.
“Darling…. I can’t imagine what you are going through. In our thoughts and prayers,” the actress wrote.
“Cannot wait to give you the biggest hug. We all loved Johnny so much but he was your honey and your soul mate and we ache for you.”
Fans were also moved by Sims’ video tribute as they flooded her comment section with heartfelt condolences.
“Life is cruel, can’t imagine how tough this is for you. What a beautiful couple,” one person wrote, while another said, “Thinking of you. It’s so sad he was a lucky guy to have you by his side. He kept fighting for you.”
Sims never left Ruffo’s side following his brain cancer diagnosis in 2017. The couple met at a dance studio in 2015 and were two years into their relationship when he began experiencing painful migraines that sometimes left him hospitalised.
Doctors soon discovered Ruffo had a seven-centimetre tumour in his brain and required emergency surgery.
“She’s remarkable. I can’t give her enough kudos for how amazing she’s been and how much I’ve been able to lean on her for support,” Ruffo said in an interview with local Perth radio station Youth Jam in August.
“She’s been so strong, stronger than I have through all of this. She’s helped me pick myself up when I’m done and I can’t thank her enough. I’m sorry, I’m at a loss for words over how incredible she has been. To me and for me.”
Ruffo lost his battle with brain cancer on November 10, with his heartbroken family releasing a statement after his tragic death.
“It is with a heavy heart that today we had to farewell our beloved Johnny,” read a statement posted to his official Instagram account.
