90s music legends drop big Aussie news - news.com.au

TLC fans will be digging on this news: the iconic R&B girl group are touring Australia in 2024.

This morning, Live Nation Australia announced the American duo will visit our shores on a five-city tour to coincide with the 30th anniversary of their smash-hit second album CrazySexyCool.

Along with supporting acts and fellow 90s legends Busta Rhymes and En Vogue, duo Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas will kick off their tour in Melbourne on March 2 before hitting Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth in early March next year.

“I’m so excited to return to Australia! This is the album that put us on the map with Aussie fans and showed the world who we really are,” Chili said in a statement.

“And to mark 30 years, this will be quite the celebration!”

CrazySexyCool sold more than 85 million records worldwide and reached the Top 5 on Aussie charts, where it remained in the top 100 for 76 weeks.

The album featured number-one tracks Waterfalls, Creep, No Scrubs and Unpretty, as well as catchy singles Diggin’ On You,Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg and Red Light Special.

To date, TLC remains the best-selling US girl group of all time with four Grammy Awards and four multi-platinum albums, two of which went Diamond.

The Atlanta-based group was rocked by tragedy in 2022 when they lost bandmate Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in a fatal car accident just weeks before her 31st birthday.

The accident took place while Lopes was filming a documentary in Honduras, which was later released as The Last Days of Left Eye in 2007.

While promoting their two-hour documentary Biography: TLC last year, T-Boz touched on Left Eye’s death and how they coped with the tragedy.

“We didn’t want people coming up, saying, ‘Oh, I’m so sorry,’” T-Boz told Us Weekly at the time. “And I know that they meant well, but when you’re in pain, you just don’t wanna hear any of that.”

“It took me a long time to refer to her in the past [tense], because I couldn’t believe it. And I think it has so much to do with, when you’re young like that, you think you’re invincible.”
