Weather sparks chaos at huge Sydney show - news.com.au

Post Malone’s concert in Sydney has been thrown into chaos following extreme weather on Wednesday evening.

The Grammy Award winning star is currently in Australia for three headline shows under the stars in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.

Doors were scheduled to open for the concert at The Domain from 6pm on Wednesday, with

Malone is scheduled to take to the stage at 8.40pm.

However, due to the current extreme weather in Sydney, Live Nation has taken to Twitter and urged concertgoers to “seek shelter” until further notice and to avoid the venue.

The company said in a tweet: “Due to approaching storm please move immediately & seek shelter in the City precinct. Please delay your arrival at Post Malone until weather has passed. This is a temporary measure, we will advise further updates as they become available.”

Fans have been inundating Twitter with pictures of videos of the current weather situation, with many demanding updates as to whether the concert will even be able to go ahead.

One tweeted: “HELP??? THIS IS THE WEATHER RIGHT NOW IN SYDNEY!!! GIVE US AN UPDATE ABOUT POST MALONE’S CONCERT TONIGHT”.

Others have urged organisers to cancel the show, tweeting: “The concert cannot seriously be going on in this thunderstorm. Do the right thing and cancel it. I doubt the insurers will pay out for all the injuries that can occur in this weather!”

A third said: “Man idk about post malone’s concert in the open during this wack rainy weather,” while another added: “When will we know if Post Malone is cancelled for tonight? there’s a severe weather warning in place?”

Malone recently kicked off his tour in Brisbane, where he entertained fans with a surprising on-stage act.

The singer, 28, did a “shoey” no less than seven times during his concert, telling the crowd he was aiming for some sort of record as he repeatedly stopped the show to skol beer from a shoe.

Post took to the stage clutching a red cup with his drink of choice – an “ice cold brewski” – but drunk from a shoe instead. The Courier Mail reported that by the time he got to his seventh shoey, well into the show, he’d brought an audience member named Dennis on stage to join him.

The “shoey” has become a love-it-or-hate-it tradition among visiting international touring acts in recent years, with big names like Harry Styles and Lizzo attempting the gross custom onstage while egged on by local fans.
