Meghan’s surprise outing after ‘blown it’ jab - news.com.au

Meghan Markle has made a surprise return to a women’s non-profit in Vancouver after generating plenty of headlines with a series of high-profile outings this week.

The Duchess of Sussex looked chic yet professional in an all-white outfit with her hair loose around her shoulders as she chatted to members of the Justice for Girls team.

The organisation shared images of Meghan’s second visit – having previously stopped by in January 2020 – and shared how “delighted” they were to see her again.

“Joined by Jessica Lake and Lauri Thompson from the Lake family’s All One Fund, we had an engaging and heartfelt conversation about justice and equality for teen girls living in poverty in Canada and around the world,” Justice for Girls wrote in a statement.

“Her genuine and understanding approach left the girls feeling heard, supported, and inspired.”

Canada holds a special place in Meghan and Prince Harry’s hearts, as it’s where they spent their first holiday season with firstborn child Archie in late 2019 while they pondered their future in the monarchy – and where they bunkered down just weeks later after deciding to quit royal duties.

Meghan also spent years living in Toronto while filming hit show Suits, and made her public debut with then-boyfriend Harry at the 2017 Invictus Games in the city.

The day prior, Meghan joined her husband in the VIP box to watch the Vancouver Canucks take on the San Jose Sharks, with the couple seen dancing and jumping from their seats during the thrilling ice hockey game.

It was just the latest in a series of recent outings for the couple, with Meghan even making a rare red carpet appearance and giving an interview at Variety’s Power of Women event in LA last week.

“We have so many exciting things on the slate,” a beaming Meghan told reporters.

“I can’t wait until we can announce them, but I’m just really proud of what we’re creating. My husband is loving it too which is really fun.”

The solo outing follows months of frenzied speculation about what the next commercial chapter will look like for Harry and Meghan, with many of their attempts at building a Hollywood empire since they moved to the US more than three years ago falling flat.

Industry experts now claim Meghan’s decision to rub shoulders with the Tinseltown elite – including Leonardo DiCaprio, Margot Robbie, and film studio bosses – was a carefully calculated move.

“It’s clearly time for a relaunch of Brand Sussex, and Meghan’s solo appearance speaks volumes about the direction they are headed,” leading Hollywood crisis management Eric Schiffer told the Daily Mail, adding that she “hit the red carpet like the pro she is” and “worked the room”.

Schiffer added that Harry and Meghan were able to initially coast on the “sympathy” felt by many when they quit royal life and moved to the US – but more than three years on, Archewell is now in desperate of a “hit” after having “squandered that goodwill”.

“The truth is that a lot of people think the couple have blown it,” a Hollywood studio executive told the Mail.

“In Hollywood, Harry is viewed as someone stuck in the past and consumed by grudges. Meghan is still able to get a lot of attention but the challenge for her now is about translating that attention into cold, hard cash.

“ … When they came to LA there was a lot of excitement, but now the feeling is, what do they have left to sell?’”
