Curtis reunites with Lohan after 20 years - news.com.au

Jamie Lee Curtis has melted hearts after sharing a sweet reunion photo with her on-screen daughter, Lindsay Lohan.

The Oscar winner, 64, who played Lohan’s mother in the film Freaky Friday, celebrated the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike with a cheeky nod to the hit 2003 movie, Page Six reports.

“Too late. YOU GREW UP and SO BEAUTIFULLY! Well, it’s Friday, and the strike is over so hopefully, we can switch places again in the near future! @lindsaylohan @disney,” Curtis captioned her Instagram post.

The “switch places again” line refers to the film, in which both Curtis and Lohan’s characters wake up to discover that they have switched bodies.

The image featured a selfie of the pair, which showed them both smiling at the camera while sharing a sweet embrace.

Speaking about the success of the film, Curtis said on The View in October 2022 that there have been talks about making a sequel.

Curtis said it would entail “the old grandma who switches places, so then Lindsay gets to be the sexy grandma who’s still happy with Mark Harmon in all the ways you would be happy with Mark Harmon.”

Harmon played Curtis’ on-screen love interest and future husband in the film.

“I would like to see Lindsay be the hot grandma, and I would like to see me try to deal with toddlers today. I want to be a helicopter parent in today’s world,” she added.

Curtis echoed that sentiment again in an interview with Today the following month, saying there was “definitely some chatting” about a second film.

Freaky Friday was so great, it has so much nostalgia to it,” she told the outlet. “Young people love it, the people that grew up with it now are mums, they’re showing it to their kids.”

“The music, Lindsay — it’s just a great movie and it makes kind of a little bit of sense that we would do it again,” she continued.

“There’s definitely some chatting.”

And in May earlier this year, both Lohan, 37, and Curtis said they would be open to the idea of making a sequel, adding that they are “leaving it in the hands that be.”

“We would only make something that people would absolutely adore,” they said in a joint interview with The New York Times.

Aside from talks of a sequel, Curtis has been Lohan’s biggest cheerleader on social media.

In July, the Everything Everywhere All At Once star congratulated Lohan on the birth of her first child in a heartwarming post on social media.

“MAGIC MONDAY! My movie daughter just made me a movie grandmother,” she wrote on Instagram. “Blessings to Lindsay and Bader for the birth of Luai! @lindsaylohan.”

The actress previously shared her excitement over Lohan’s pregnancy news.

Sharing a series of snaps from Lohan’s baby shower in April, Curtis wrote on Instagram, “My friend and film daughter @lindsaylohan is growing up! So thrilled for her. What a mama she will be.”
