Frederik flies solo amid affair rumours - news.com.au

Princess Mary’s husband, Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, has embarked on his royal duties solo after affair rumours swept the palace.

The Danish monarchy found itself embroiled in scandal last week after Spanish magazine Lecturas printed allegations of an affair between Prince Frederik and Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova.

The magazine shared pictures of the pair attending a Pablo Picasso exhibit together in Madrid and claimed to have a timeline of their evening, which allegedly included a late dinner together before they went to Ms Casanova’s apartment.

Ms Casanova categorically denied the claims of a romantic relationship.

Despite the whispers, Prince Frederik was all smiles as he hosted the annual networking dinner of the DenmarkBridge association, which aims to forge links between Danish companies and Silicon Valley, on Monday.

Australian-born Princess Mary was absent from the event, which was a solo appearance for her husband at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen.

The royal couple has not commented on the rumours, but Princess Mary made an apparent subtle statement about her love for her husband.

The future Queen of Denmark wore an 18-carat gold necklace during the couple’s recent outing at the Joaquin Sorolla exhibition at the Glyptoteket Museum in Copenhagen, at which the King and Queen of Spain were also present.

The charm on Princess Mary’s necklace — a tiny, jewel-encrusted “F” — showed her loyalty to her husband.

Ms Casanova, who is an influencer, media personality and reality TV star, denied the allegations of an affair.

“I categorically deny the statements that suggest a romantic relationship between Prince Frederik and me,” Ms Casanova told the outlet.

“Any statement of this type not only completely lacks the truth but also misrepresents the facts in a malicious manner. This is already in the hands of my lawyers, who will take care of the pertinent steps to protect my right to honour, truth and privacy.”

The 55-year-old prince, who is married with four children, and the 47-year-old media personality, who is divorced, meet “several times a year” since becoming acquainted on a high-end hunting trip, according to new claims.

Susanna Griso, host of the current affairs show Espejo Publico (which translates to Public Mirror), said the pair met in the Alps.

“They know each other and have friends in common. They usually meet several times a year. They tell me that they are private meetings that are with more friends of the group, some members of royalty,” Ms Griso said on her show, according to Lecturas magazine.
