TikTok Australia Awards 2023: All the best influencer moments, winners at the Sydney awards - PerthNow

The TikTok Australia Awards kicked off in Sydney on Wednesday night with more than 1500 people in attendance, and we have all the influencer highlights of the evening here for you to enjoy from the best dressed, to the most embarrassing moments to the slightly controversial winners.

Sydney influencer Sopha Dopha was left visibly humiliated when one of the hosts, Tony Armstrong, interviewed her while she was sitting in the audience, with the footage quickly going viral on the video platform.

The 19-year-old — who was nominated for the Creator of the Year award — told Armstrong to stop flirting with her even though he has a girlfriend.

“How are you feeling? You look ecstatic and I’m pumped for you,” he questioned.

Sopha Dopha replied: “Thank you. Wow! Stop flirting with me!”

Her comment was followed by a faint laughter from the audience before Armstrong shut her down.

“Had a hard launch this week, mate. Don’t know if you caught the news...” he replied, referring to the debut of his new relationship with girlfriend Rona Glynn-McDonald.

“That was not flirting, that was flattery.”

An embarrassed Sopha Dopha replied: “No, thank you. I’m happy to be here.”

Users have criticised the influencer’s comments on the viral TikTok footage, saying they have “second-hand embarrassment”.

“Does she not know what ECSTATIC means,” one person commented.

“The second hand embarrassment I have,” another user wrote.

The infamous Fitzroy garage party video by Andrew Davie was crowned TikTok video of the year, which has caused a stir among many Aussies online.

The video shows a group of guys enjoying the ‘sesh’ in a garage in Fitzroy, Melbourne. They are seen rocking mullets in alternative clothing, awkwardly dancing, vaping and they even give someone a haircut on the street.

The video — posted in December of last year — had many TikTok users parodying their video, creating a huge response.

Influencers Andrew Davie and Jordan Menadue — who featured in the video — accepted the award on stage, with Davie thanking friends and family and “the people who saw the video in a positive light”.

“Who knew that a video of a bunch of lads having pre’s could go off like this,” Davie said.

Users were quick to comment on footage of them accepting the awards, with some questioning why their video was the winner.

“Why did they win?” one person said.

Another person commented: “So was there absolutely no competition because that video sucked.”

Others were supportive of their win.

“From a party with friends, that spawned many copycat TikToks all for fun. It was great. Well done mate,” one person said.

“Congrats boys, keep boogying,” a second person commented.

Social media personality Abbie Chatfield — another co-host of the awards ceremony alongside Armstrong and TikTok star Kat Clark — put on a busty display in a stunning white gown.

The reality star paired the plunging gown with dazzling gold earrings and a glamorous up-do hairstyle.

Sydney mum-of-two Indy Clinton was crowned Australia’s most loved influencer.

The 27-year-old shares hilarious and chaotic videos of ‘mum life’ to her 1.5 million followers and also regularly features her hubby.

Clinton — who is pregnant with her third child — accepted the award in a glamorous black gown and was in “shock” that she was the winner.

The blonde beauty revealed she was so nervous on stage that she questioned whether she was going into labour.
