Today hosts Karl Stafanovic and Sarah Abo dared to go on social media this week to read some of the comments made about by them by viewers to celebrate the end of the year almost being upon them.
On Wednesday, the presenters read out mean comments about themselves on Instagram and filmed their reactions to the remarks, some of which went down better than others.
Despite some of the comments not exactly being the most flattering, thankfully the TV hosts took most of them on the chin.
“Karl and Sarah have been co-hosts for a year now, so we wanted to share some of your thoughts from 2023 …” the video’s caption read before the pair got to the nitty gritty.
One that really left the stars and the crew cackling saw a viewer compare Karl’s haircut to that of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The remark also served as a reminder not to allow the long-running host to cover politics on the show considering he failed to say Jong-un’s name correctly, with Sarah having to jump in and correct his pronunciation.
“Why does Karl do his hair like Kim Jong-un?” the star read aloud, as his co-star began laughing off-screen after another comment compared him to a character in Modern Family.
“Why would a professional like Sarah go on the Today show?” read Sarah before facing the camera and saying: “Ooh it’s a bit mean that one. Sledge.”
She then read another comment, this time from a viewer that suggested she’s too happy on the show, saying: “Why does Sarah laugh at nothing?”
After reading the comment out loud, the host hit back in response: “I’m not laughing that’s not funny.”

She then read out another mean message, which said: “I feel bad for Sarah Abo, I hope she’s the first to outlast Karl,” which didn’t appear to leave Karl impressed.
Meanwhile, it comes after it was revealed that Abo will host her first Carols by Candlelight for Nine alongside returning host David Campbell.
Opening up about the honour, she said: “I’m excited to be joining David as the host of Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight. I have such fond memories of watching and attending Carols as a child, and I am thrilled to be able to play a role in one of Australia’s most loved Christmas Eve traditions.”
