Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has hit back at claims she bullied staff to the point they “shook” and left some “psychologically traumatised”.
Meghan Markle’s lawyer has denied claims the Duchess left staff so terrified that they “shook” – and that she left her aides “psychologically traumatised”.
The Sun reports that the BBC’s controversial new documentary The Princes And The Press last night focused on how Harry and Meghan quit the Royal Family, with The Sun’s explosive Megxit revelations featuring heavily.
The Times’ royal correspondent Valentine Low, who broke the story of bullying claims, told presenter Amol Rajan: “These people, I know, two and a half years later, when I’m writing this story — some of them were in tears.
“They were still severely psychologically traumatised. So, something went badly wrong.”
Jason Knauf, the Sussexes’ former communications chief, played a key role in the revelations at the time, reportedly complaining about the treatment of three female colleagues he claimed had been driven out of the royal household by the duchess. The royal aide now works for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
But Meghan’s lawyer Jenny Afia, of firm Schillings, replied: “There were massive inaccuracies in that story. It’s hard to prove a negative. If you haven’t bullied someone, how do you show you haven’t?”
Lawyers for the royals are reportedly on standby to take action against the BBC for “unfounded” claims made in the controversial documentary.
The Queen, William and Kate Middleton are reportedly considering cutting off the BBC forever.
The three senior royals, together with Prince Charles and Camilla, have already issued a robust joint statement blasting bosses for airing “overblown and unfounded claims” by contributors.
And the Cambridges have already banned the national broadcaster from screening their Christmas carol concert, instead handing the rights to ITV.
There was also Palace anger that Meghan arranged for her lawyer to appear on the BBC documentary and answer questions on her behalf.
She was the only Royal Family member to take part — raising the possibility the BBC told her what was going to be in the documentary while leaving the rest of the royals in the dark.
Meanwhile, the second part of the doc has been titled ‘Sussexit’ – after Harry claimed the term ‘Megxit’ was a “misogynistic term” that was “created by a troll [and] amplified by royal correspondents”.
Prince William has reportedly banned his aides from ever briefing against family members after seeing the devastating impact of his parents’ media war first-hand.
