Stranger Things fans have been left baffled by Millie Bobby Brown’s “new voice”.
The actress, 20, appeared on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallonwhere she seemed to have ditched her English accent, The Sun reports.
Instead, the star had a slight American twang, which viewers were quick to comment on.
One person remarked: “Millie bobby brown developing an American accent was not on my bingo cards for 2024 (sic).”
A second added: “Why does millie bobby brown sound SO american now HELLO (sic).”
While a third said: “Millie Bobby Brown’s accent is 95% American 5% English atp lmao.”
Brown speaks with an American accent when she plays Eleven in the hit Netflix series, but she is actually British and spent some of her childhood in Bournemouth, southwest of London, before moving to Florida.
She previously had an English accent during interviews, but has shown on numerous occasions how easily she can change it.
During the chat, Brown opened up about her partner Jake Bongiovi’s proposal, which almost ended in disaster.
She got engaged to the 21-year-old model and actor last April after over two years of dating and has revealed he popped the question while they were on a diving trip.
But speaking about it for the first time, she said she was so surprised, the ring fell off her finger and down into the water, prompting her new fiancé to risk his life to retrieve it.
“So we go under, and we’re like many metres down, and he gives me like a shell. And I turn it over, and it’s a ring,” she explained.
After “freaking out”, she continued: “He puts the ring on my hand and as I go to show him, the ring falls off my finger, plummets like, so fast, it was like a cinematic movie.”
The diving instructor warned Jake he shouldn’t go after the ring in case his brain “exploded” but he ignored the advice.
Brown continued: “Jake threw himself into – like, so deep. Like the diver was like, ‘You can’t do that. Your ears. Literally, your brain will explode’.

“He throws himself, he does a cinematic, like, grab, opens, and he saved the ring.
“I truly feel like it’s a reflection of who he is, and I feel like we’re always going to have each other’s back. And if anyone drops the ball, we got it. So there we go.”
