GB News host Patrick Christys has declared there are concerns among the British press after Princess Catherine was spotted earlier in the week for the first time in more than two months.
The Princess of Wales had not been seen publicly since Christmas Day after Kensington Palace revealed in January the 42-year-old would not return to royal duties until after Easter following “planned abdominal surgery”.
However speculation over her absence from the public eye has since run wild online.
Speaking to Sky News Australia's Andrew Bolt on Wednesday night, Mr Christys said the British press are either choosing not to, or haven't been able to reveal anything about the Princess.
"There are some concerns amongst some elements of the British press, it's like we do help pay for the royal family, should we not been getting more information?" he said.
"The fact is, the royal family has a huge amount of power over the British press in this country, and if you ever want any kind of ongoing relationship with the royals, which obviously everybody does, then if you were the one that goes straight over the top and broadcasts something, especially something deeply personal like Kate's illness, then you are going to be excommunicated from the royal pool.
"I do also think there is a genuine sense of concern."
Meanwhile, as speculation continues to grow about Catherine's health, her uncle Gary Goldsmith was announced as part of the new season of UK Celebrity Big Brother on Monday night local time.
The GB News host said his decision to appear on the show was “the last thing the royal family would want”.
"It does seem as though the last thing, really, the royal family would want is good old uncle Garry wondering into the celebrity big brother house," Mr Christys said.
“So far, he’s just defended Kate, he’s said that Harry and Meghan have thrown them under a bus and all of that.
“The problem is obviously Kate at the moment is quite unwell, presumably he does actually know more than the rest of us about what’s going on.
“At some point, when you're trapped in the Big Brother house…and there’s cameras 24/7 could that come out. That could be seriously, seriously bad.”
Ahead of his entry into the Big Brother house, Gary sat down for an interview with The Sun and opened up about his niece.
“She's beautiful on the outside, but more beautiful on the inside and really is a doting mum,” he told the newspaper.
“That's why I got so upset with Harry and Meghan because you don't put a stick into that spoke and reinvent history.
“I've got pretty miffed when they had a pop at my beautiful niece who couldn't say anything for herself.”
Kensington Palace issued a statement last week assuring the public Princess Catherine was “doing well” since her procedure after Prince William’s sudden withdrawal from a royal engagement sent the rumour mill into overdrive.
Speculation mounted over Princess Catherine's health, with concerns she may have been the reason for William's sudden cancellation as it was unusual for a royal to pull out of an event at such short notice.
