Troubled star’s stunning announcement - news.com.au

Former Jackass star Brandon “Bam” Margera has revealed he is now more than 100 days sober, after a very public battle with substance abuse.

The reality TV veteran and professional skater made the incredible admission to TMZ, crediting work, fitness and his girlfriend, Dannii, for keeping him on the right path.

Margera, 44, also revealed he’d received support from Mark Wahlberg, who has previously battled addiction issues himself.

He shared a video on Instagram that the Ted actor had sent him, which was sent in response to Margera’s announcement that he was 120 days sober.

The pair had reportedly previously met at awards shows and parties over the years.

“Bam, what’s up brother? Thanks so much for the video, bro … I’m so happy for you in your sobriety. Wow, 120 days. God bless you, bro,” Wahlberg, 52, told him.

“I hope you and your family are well. I look forward to connecting with you soon, I’ve always been such a big fan … I look forward to seeing you, brother.”

It’s certainly been a tumultuous few years for Margera, who was fired from the Jackass Forever movie in 2021 over allegations that he failed to comply with an agreement to stay sober during production.

Margera has also had several brushes with the law as he struggled with addiction.

He was accused of assaulting and threatening to kill his own brother in April, which came just weeks after an arrest for public intoxication and domestic violence allegations.

Margera’s wife, Nikki Boyd, filed for legal separation in February, with her lawyer, David Glass, telling TMZ at the time that it was due to the star spending time with their then-five-year-old son, Phoenix, while allegedly under the influence.

His friends and family have repeatedly expressed concern for his welfare amid his public spiral, with former Jackass co-star and longtime friend Stephen “Steve-O” Glover telling Margera that he was preparing for his death, sparking a bitter feud.

However, things appear to have now taken a positive turn for Margera, who also told TMZ that following his new-found commitment to sobriety, he has now been cleared to see his son again.
