'Chris Wallace blasted for asking Adam Driver about his looks | news.com.au — Australia's leading news site - news.com.au

He’s in the driver’s seat.

During a recent interview with CNN’s Chris Wallace, Adam Driver was asked about the fact that he doesn’t “look like the typical movie star” — and whether that’s helped or hindered his career in Hollywood.

As per the New York Post, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor, 40, seemed taken aback by the turn the interview took, but he replied, “I look how I look. I can’t change that, so I guess it helped me.”

“The New Yorker has also called me a horse-face,” he went on. “I remember reading one reviewer [who said], ‘His agent probably doesn’t know whether to put him in a movie or the Kentucky Derby.’ So if you believe the good thing, you have to believe the bad thing. I try to not absorb anything.”

Fans of Driver quickly took to social media to slam Wallace, who left Fox News after 18 years in December 2021.

“This guy interviewing Adam Driver is some kind of scumbag, eh?” one fan posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Men like chris wallace look like turtles and look at hotties like adam driver and say ‘why don’t you look like robert redford’ to their face and it truly shows how f**king dumb men are,” another Driver fan slammed the veteran journalist.

“Chris Wallace having the audacity to say something about Adam Driver appearance all while looking like that is f**king crazy,” another fan said, accompanying that statement with a photo of Wallace, 76.

Another fan posted a mock summary of the interview, writing:

“ADAM DRIVER: I used to be able to sort of stealthily observe and learn about the way different people behave and interact and now it’s harder because I’m more recognisable.

CHRIS WALLACE: Because you’re so ugly, you mean?”

During his appearance on Wallace’s Max series, Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?, Driver discussed his role in director Michael Mann’s Enzo Ferrari biopic, Ferrari, which hits cinemas Dec. 25. Driver stars as the titular character. This isn’t Driver’s first awkward public appearance while promoting the film, as he previously shocked the audience at a film festival by saying “f**k you” to a man who called the movie “cheesy.”

Driver also discussed his role as the villainous Kylo Ren in the Star Wars movies, and said he “never lives down” the fact that Ren killed his father, Han Solo (Harrison Ford).

“Somebody reminds me about that every day,” the Girls alum said.

After Wallace responded, “Are you serious?,” Driver said, “Not every day, but yeah. It used to be more, but now it’s probably once a month someone will let me know that I killed Han Solo.”

While Driver said filming the scene itself didn’t feel “tough,” it was nonetheless “very emotional shooting it with Harrison.”

He added: “Harrison was so generous and contemplative, and to me that was a great moment on set, even though it was his death.”
