A family friend of the singer told 7NEWS they were out the back of the property when someone started yelling “smoke”.

A quick-thinking neighbour called triple-0.

Emergency services arrived to find the rear of the house “well involved” in flames, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said.

Firefighters took about 45 minutes to quell the threat but by then it had already brought down a roof and burned through valuables inside.

The heat from the inferno made it difficult for crews to bring it under control, and two firefighters were taken to hospital as a precaution. 7NEWS helicopter footage showed significant damage to the house.

Brand revealed his “sense of surreal shock” as he watched his home being consumed by fire.

“This is a moment that shakes you to the core, a stark reminder of the unpredictable journey of life,” he told 7NEWS.com.au in a statement.

“First and foremost, I want to express my deepest gratitude that my family and I are safe. The loss of a home is a devastating blow, but having my girls safe and unharmed, puts everything in perspective.

“We are safe and together, and that’s what truly matters.”

Brand, a 12-time Golden Guitar winner and six-time ARIA award nominee, shares the home with partner Nui and their two children.

“I am still in the process of comprehending the full extent of this situation,” he said.

“The memories and personal treasures lost in the flames are irreplaceable, but I am reminded of the resilience and strength that we all possess in times of adversity.

“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the amazing firefighters who battled the blaze.

“To my fans and the community, your outpouring of support has been a source of comfort and strength.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation and neighbours have vowed to support the family while they wait to learn what sparked the blaze.

Brand’s career spans 25 years and he has sold more than 600,000 albums.
