It’s the biggest question in Australian radio: Who will replace Marty Sheargold?
The Nova radio star announced on Friday that he would be leaving the Kate, Tim and Marty drive show on September 11.
Since then, the rumour mill has been in overdrive with speculation about who will replace the comedian on the show.
According to multiple sources who spoke to news.com.au on the condition of anonymity, Sheargold’s replacement is Joel Creasey.
The stand-up comedian is no stranger to Kate, Tim and Marty listeners having appeared on the show many times over the years to take on Kate Ritchie in Quick Draw.
There’s no official confirmation yet that Creasey will replace Sheargold, with other contenders including Ed Kavalee, Sam Pang and Wil Anderson.
MARTY’S ANNOUNCEMENT
In an emotional segment on Friday’s show, Sheargold announced to listeners that he would be leaving the radio show in September.
“Over the last three or four months I’ve been tossing up what I’d like to do in 2021 and I guess what I’ve decided to do is leave the show, which will come as a surprise to a lot of people,” he said on air.
“I’ve been thinking about it for a while – I’ve talked to numerous people and decided that now is the time to stretch the legs, as it were.”

Sheargold, who has been with Nova for 10 years, said his recent return to stand-up comedy had made him think about whether or not he was “challenging myself in life”.
“I think it’s fair to say I’ve been sitting in a comfortable chair for a long time,” he said. “Sometimes you gotta know in your gut when it’s time to go. You don’t want to overstay your welcome and you want to do the right thing by everyone else and be as committed to the show and the group as the people around you are.
“I think it’s fair to say that I am probably not that way at the moment,” he said.
Nova’s Kate, Tim and Marty has been the number one FM national drive show across Australia for 26 consecutive surveys.
