Kanye West has apologised to his wife Kim Kardashian West for publicising their “private matter” during his high-profile meltdown this week.
At a political rally last week, the troubled rapper cried hysterically when he discussed how the couple considered aborting their eldest child, North.
Fears over his mental health were fuelled by a string of bizarre tweets in which he claimed the Kardashian family was trying to “lock me up”.
Now, the presidential hopeful has issued a grovelling apology to his wife of six years.
“I would like to apologize to my wife Kim for going public with something that was a private matter,” Kanye wrote to his 30.5 million Twitter followers.
“I did not cover her like she has covered me. To Kim I want to say I know I hurt you. Please forgive me. Thank you for always being there for me.”
A few hours after the apology, photos surfaced showing the 43-year-old entering the Cody Regional Health Hospital emergency room near his Wyoming ranch, where he has spent the week.
A source close to West reportedly told TMZ that he was making a brief 10-minute visit to treat his anxiety and that his team arranged for an ambulance to come to his ranch.
The source claims paramedics determined West did not need to be monitored.
After the ambulance left, West reportedly took the unusual step of inviting waiting press photographers to his property.

After waiting for him for two hours, he then reportedly told them he didn’t want to photographers controlling him.
West’s Twitter meltdown included a series of now deleted tweets in which he claimed Kardashian West was trying to divorce him.
Kardashian West came to her husband’s defence later this week by pleading with the public to respect his bipolar disorder in a public statement.
“Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand,” she wrote.
“I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy when it comes to his health.”
“But today, I feel like I should comment on it because off the stigma and misconceptions about mental health.”
