Friends star Jennifer Aniston has issued a passionate Instagram plea imploring Americans to follow COVID-19 health advice on masks.
Using a face mask selfie to get her point across, the star – who has a whopping 34.4 million followers – told fans to “just #wearadamnmask and encourage those around you to do the same,” adding that the issue “shouldn’t be politicised”.
It comes as the country’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advise people to wear face coverings when social distancing is not an option.
Despite this, US President Donald Trump has yet to be photographed in public wearing one.

“I understand masks are inconvenient and uncomfortable,” Aniston’s powerful post began.
“But don’t you feel that it’s worse that businesses are shutting down … jobs are being lost … health care workers are hitting absolute exhaustion. And so many lives have been taken by this virus because we aren’t doing enough.”
She went on: “I really do believe in the basic goodness of people so I know we can all do this. BUT still, there are many people in our country refusing to take the necessary steps to flatten the curve, and keep each other safe.
“People seem worried about their ‘rights being taken away’ by being asked to wear a mask. This simple and effective recommendation is being politicised at the expense of peoples’ lives. And it really shouldn’t be a debate.”
She concluded her message with a simple wish: “If you care about human life, please … just #wearadamnmask and encourage those around you to do the same.”
The Morning Show star shared the same sentiment on her Instagram Stories.
“Wear a mask and be responsible. Just because things are opening doesn’t mean it’s safe,” she wrote, before sharing a series of photos of people in masks.
The CDC website recommends “that people wear cloth face coverings in public settings and when around people who don’t live in your household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain”.
“Cloth face coverings are most likely to reduce the spread of COVID-19 when they are widely used by people in public settings,” reads a statement on the CDC website. “Cloth face coverings may help prevent people who have COVID-19 from spreading the virus to others.”
Aniston’s post today comes after a cheeky (and widely-held) message to the pandemic in May.
Posting a paparazzi pic from what appeared to be the early 2000s, Aniston wrote: “Dear Covid … You can kindly F@! k off now thank you BYE,” while flipping her middle finger to the camera.
And last month, the star announced she was auctioning off a nude portrait of herself taken by photographer Mark Seliger in November 1995 to raise money for coronavirus relief.
The black-and-white image features the Friends star crossing her legs in front of her chest and resting her hands on her knees.
“My dear friend @markseliger teamed up with @radvocacy and @christiesinc to auction 25 of his portraits – including mine ☺ – for COVID-19 relief,” Aniston captioned the post.
“100% of sales proceeds of this portrait will go to @NAFClinics, an organisation which provides free coronavirus testing and care nationwide to the medically undeserved,” she added.
