Sources close to Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik say the couple have gone their separate ways amid reports Gigi’s mother is pursuing police action against Zayn.
Superstar couple and parents-of-one Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid have reportedly broken up after reports emerged that Zayn allegedly “struck” Gigi’s mother during an argument.
People has reported the 26-year-old supermodel and One Direction singer, 28, are “not together right now”.
It comes as Hadid’s mother Yolanda has reportedly claimed Zayn Malik assaulted her during an argument and is “seriously considering” filing a police report.
Malik has denied the claims.
“They are not together right now. They are both good parents though,” a Hadid family friend told the publication.
“They co-parent. Yolanda is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild.”
Earlier today, Gigi’s rep released a statement to People which read: “Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time”.
The statement was released after Zayn responded to a TMZ report telling the outlet he “adamantly” denied Yolanda’s “false allegations” that he struck her during an argument.
In a statement shared on Twitter, Malik said he wanted to create “a place where private family matters aren’t thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart,” adding that the incident “was and still should be a private matter.”
Malik also revealed there was a “divisiveness” within the family.
The British singer, who now enjoys a solo career, said he hoped everyone involved could heal from “the harsh words shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves.”
The former boy band member and Victoria’s Secret model Gigi have been dating since 2015.
They welcomed their first child, daughter Khai, in September last year.
