The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 57, is allegedly “seriously considering” filing a police report over the incident that happened between her and her supermodel daughter’s partner in recent weeks.
While details around how the argument unfolded are currently unclear, TMZ reports “Yolanda stands by her account” of being “struck” by the former One Direction singer.
Malik, 28, has since addressed the reports via a statement on his Twitter page, saying he will “not contest” the claims to protect his one-year-old daughter Khai, whom he shares with Gigi, 26.
“As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in,” his note began.
“A place where private family matters aren’t thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart. In an effort to protect that space for her I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago.”
Malik also revealed there was a “divisiveness” within the family.
“This was and still should be a private matter,” he added. “But it seems for now there is a divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press.”
The British singer, who now enjoys a solo career, said he hoped everyone involved could heal from “the harsh words shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves.”
In a subsequent statement to TMZ, Malik said he denied the claims.
“I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private,” he said.
The former boy band member and Victoria’s Secret model Gigi have been dating since 2015.
They welcomed their first child in September last year.
