‘Have him fired’: Lisa’s awkward moment - NEWS.com.au

Lisa Wilkinson couldn’t hide her displeasure at a comment from another of the panellists on Sunday’s episode of The Project.

The Project host Lisa Wilkinson couldn’t hide her discomfort at one X-rated comment from panellist Tommy Little during Sunday’s episode of the program.

The media veteran looked none-too-pleased after comedian Little dropped a racy pun during a sports report about South African cricketer Quinton de Kock.

“There is no better feeling than watching the Aussies bowl with de Kock out,” he quipped, which scored big laughs from the rest of the panel – except for Wilkinson, who kept her gaze away from the camera.

“What are you reading there, Wilko?” asked Little, as Wilkinson squirmed.

“Anything, as long as I don‘t have to listen to you right now,” she said.

“Have him fired,” quipped Little, before moving on to the next news item.

Moments later, another joke from Little, this time a barb aimed at former Project co-host Peter van Onselen. After a segment about the NBA releasing its list of the top 75 players of all time, Little joked that The Project had also released a list of the show’s top 75 panellists of all time.

Cut to a mock list, with Carrie Bickmore sat in the number one position – and a scroll down to reveal van Onselen in last place at number 75.

It’s not the first time Little has made an on-air joke at van Onselen’s expense after the former Project panellist was pushed off the show’s regular line-up to make way for returning journalist Hamish MacDonald back in August.

Welcoming Macdonald back to his role during his first episode back after a stint at the ABC, Little quipped: “Hamish Macdonald, that makes so much sense. In our meeting today, I was like, damn, PVO is looking hot!”

Macdonald left the Channel 10 news program 18 months ago to host ABC’s Q&A, only to return to his former role after admitting he struggled with internet trolling and little support from his employers.

But the move left PVO on the outer, amid rumours reported by TV Blackbox of tensions on the panel.

Meanwhile, fellow Project panellist Lisa Wilkinson has been dominating the headlines in recent weeks, as bombshell revelations leak out from her upcoming memoir.

In one extract from her autobiography It Wasn’t Meant To Be Like This, Wilkinson claimed that towards the end of their decade-long run as co-hosts, Karl Stefanovic struck a new deal that meant he would be earning $2 million – more than double what she was earning at the network.

But in a news.com.au exclusive, insiders revealed a stunning plot twist: Wilkinson in fact earned double the salary of Stefanovic for many of their years on-air together.
