Tanya and Mark have turned on each other as the latest Block cheating drama comes to a head, and it’s clear they’re far from reconciling.
It’s three weeks from the finish line and The Block contestants are still at each other’s throats.
On Sunday night, it was Tanya and Mark at the centre of yet another tense exchange — with it clear Mark is far from forgetting the explosive war of words from the first body corporate where Tanya inadvertently called him and partner Mitch “pigs” in the spar.
Here’s where we’re at:
With the production schedule scandal still lingering, this week, Tanya and Vito were again accused of cheating for trying to score a free laundry install past deadline.
Had it not been for Georgia’s neighbourhood snooping and Mitch and Mark’s connections with cabinet company Kinsman, they might have gotten away with it, given Tanya had told The Block’s producers they were hoping to snag a “cheeky freebie”.
“I probably was under the assumption that they probably would do it for free, because money was never discussed,” she admitted.
“My story would have been well you guys got it for free to we got it for free too! It would have been a cheeky freebie. Obviously that wasn’t the case.”
But when facing the other contestants in Sunday’s episode, it was a different story, with Tanya adamant she was prepared to foot the bill all along.
“Because (our laundry) was so huge there was no way we were gonna get it done (during living room week), so we just opted to get it done this week,” she explained to Mark of why she and Vito hadn’t completed their laundries when instructed.
“(It was a) huge out of pocket expense of course,” she added, showing Mark their installation invoice.
Calling her out, Mark rebutted: “I understand that invoice was issued because Scotty and Keith found out what was happening,” adding that he had heard from Kinsman themselves that Tanya was not expecting to pay.
“Come and speak to me next time,” Tanya urged, with the conversation quickly going south.
“We probably still have never resolved one of those comments about us being pigs,” Mark admitted.
After a lengthy debate over whether Tanya’s “Don’t fight with pigs because you get dirty and they love it” remark from earlier in the season was a direct insult or not, the two eventually buried the hatchet … sort of.
“I am sorry that you took it that way,” Tanya eventually conceded, with Mark thanking her for presenting the Kinsman invoice.
“I’ll have to process that,” he added of her apology.
Walking away with husband Vito, Tanya muttered: “I love it how he wants me to apologise when it’s like ‘oh also, you called Vito a ***, but hold on, I’ll apologise because I’m not a condescending old man’.”
Yikes.
Elsewhere, Kirsty and Jesse took out hallway week, despite having to rush home after a shock death in the family for 24 hours.
