Actor Craig McLachlan tells court sex simulation video was part of 'lewd jokes' - ABC News

Veteran actor Craig McLachlan has conceded that he sent a video of himself simulating a sex act to one of the women accusing him of indecent assault, but insists it was part of "lewd jokes" the two used to share.

Three videos of the Australian entertainer were today played to the Melbourne Magistrates' Court where Mr McLachlan is fighting charges levelled against him by four women who are accusing him of serious misconduct.

The 13 charges allegedly occurred in 2014, while Mr McLachlan was also performing in The Rocky Horror stage show.

Mr McLachlan has maintained his innocence and denies the charges.

The 16-second video starts on the actor's feet before panning up to his groin, and then stopping on his face.

"I'm simulating touching myself outside of my shorts," Mr McLachlan told the court today.

During cross-examination today, the actor confirmed he had sent the video to one of his accusers, but said it was in the context of "a bunch of jokes".

"[She] and I used to engage in lewd jokes," Mr McLachlan said.

"You're simulating masturbating," prosecutor Matthew Fisher put to him.

"Well, simulating, comically, looking at the face, yes," Mr McLachlan said.

Two other videos were also played to the court on Thursday, both showing Mr McLachlan simulating stomach troubles in a bathroom.

"I was sending [her] a comedic video in relation to her talking about shitting constantly because of the catering on set," Mr McLachlan said.

McLachlan denies touching woman's genitals

Prosecutors today questioned Mr McLachlan on the context of the videos in light of his comments earlier in the week calling the woman the most "vulgar" person he had ever met.

"Those things you were doing were vulgar," Mr Fisher put to him.

"I say they're not," the actor said.

The line of questioning prompted an objection from Stuart Littlemore QC, the actor's barrister.

"My client's not on trial for hypocrisy," Mr Littlemore said.

"But he's on trial for serious offending, they're allegations," Mr Fisher said.

Today's cross-examination focused on an allegation that Mr McLachlan touched the woman's genitals, which he has denied.

He told the court he would not have had time to touch his accuser.

"In the moment she nominated, I'm almost two metres away," Mr McLachlan said.

"Are you being honest when you give that answer," asked Mr Fisher.

"I most certainly am," the actor said.
