Lupo, an English Cocker Spaniel, reportedly joined the royal family to help Kate cope with all the time apart she was spending from Will while he served as an RAF pilot in the early months of their marriage.

Since then, the dog has become a regular fixture in Royal life, often appearing alongside the Cambridges and in family photos.

The canine is also credited with choosing Prince George’s name.

William and Kate wrote down names on paper and scattered them on the floor of their home, leaving Lupo to ‘choose’ by tapping it.

Lupo, which means wolf in Italian, was given to the couple by Kate Middleton’s parents Carole and Michael.
