Chrissy Teigen savages troll who called Meghan Markle’s miscarriage op-ed selfish - NEWS.com.au

Chrissy Teigen came to the defence of Meghan Markle, after the actress received an abundance of criticism over her miscarriage op-ed.

The 39-year-old former Royal opened up about her recent miscarriage in an essay for the New York Times which was released earlier this week.

34-year-old Teigen suffered her own miscarriage recently, and was extremely open about it with her fans, posting photos from her experience in hospital on social media.

The model was quick to come to Markle’s defence after a Twitter user said her essay was selfish.

“Award for today’s absolute piece of s**t goes to Marco Giannangeli. Congratulations, piece of s**t,” wrote Teigen in reply to Giannangeli’s tweet, which she later deleted.

After deleting the tweet, she returned to Twitter to apologise.

“Sorry forgot I’m trying to be nicer lol.”

Giannangeli’s original tweet read: “Is anyone really questioning the pain and sheer awfulness of suffering a miscarriage, or are they perhaps criticising Meghan’s decision to write a 1,000 word op-Ed about herself?”

In the lengthy New York Times piece titled The Losses We Share, Markle explained the horrible “July morning” when she knew that she was “losing [her] second child.”

“After changing [Archie’s] diaper, I felt a sharp cramp. I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right,” she recalled.

“I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second. Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand.

“I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears. Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal,” she wrote.

Following her defence of Markle, Teigen told her fans that she was going to take a step back form social media as she was finding herself in a “grief depression hole” following the loss of her son Jack in September.

“I’m not tweeting much because I’m honestly in a bit of a grief depression hole but do not worry as I have so much help around me to get better and I’ll be fixed soon,” she wrote.

She added: “they’ll call when im better and ready for pick-up and u can swing by and grab me OK? thank u and love you!”
