Radio host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson was faced with a horrifying shock on Tuesday’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show.
Their resident medical expert Dr Sam Hay informed the 45-year-old that she had herpes.
Henderson told the doctor that she occasionally gets cold sores, which she didn’t know was caused by the herpes simplex virus.
“I get cold sores but I don’t have herpes,” she said, to which Dr Hay replied: “No, you do. It’s the same virus, it just depends where it infects you.”
Jackie added: “I’m not going to be passing on any kind of genital herpes.”
Dr Hay disagreed and confirmed if a person with a cold sore performs oral sex, it’s likely to be passed on, which prompted Jackie’s co-host Kyle Sandilands to gasp, “What?!”

Jackie replied: “I would never do that [oral sex] if I had a cold sore. I haven’t had one for ages, but if I did get one, there’s no way I would do that.”
“And that’s why you shouldn’t,” said Dr Hay. “If you’ve got an active cold sore, you shouldn’t be going down.”
Henderson was in shock, unaware that cold sores are in fact caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV), which is a common misconception many people have.
‘Herpes’ isn’t exclusive to genital herpes.
Cold sores are actually known as herpes type 1 (HSV-1) with genital herpes known as herpes type 2 (HSV-2).
They are both caused by the same virus.

However, as Dr. Sam Hay explained, people who have cold sores can give somebody genital herpes by performing oral sex on them when they have an active cold sore that is infectious.
However most people also don’t know how common cold sores are.
The World Health Organisation reported that more than half of the world carry the HSV-1 virus.

Henderson is often making candid confessions on air, which is most of their successful show’s appeal.
Recently, the radio host addressed a nasty rumour that has followed her for years.
During an interview with Australian singer Amy Shark recently, co-host Kyle Sandilands, 49, joked that Jackie was accused of doing cocaine “because of the caved-in nose”.
Jackie urged that she’s “never taken the drug in her whole life” while speculating about how that kind of rumour has followed her for so long.
“Can you believe – how can I have that rumour?” she laughed.
Amy Shark asked Jackie O if she had ever tried it while she was living on the Gold Coast, to which Jackie replied, “No, never!”
“Good girl!” Amy responded.
Kyle then jumped in, “She loved the weed dealer dudes!”
Jackie laughed: “He was my boyfriend, so …”
In April this year, Jackie claimed that the rumour started in the mid-2000s.
“It’s because I got really skinny,” she explained on the radio show, claiming that it was all started by a “few people” in her industry who just wanted to start drama.
She then swore on her daughter Kitty’s life that she had “never done cocaine”, claiming that “I’ve just never been interested. I really haven’t.”
