Lisa Wilkinson has touched on Meghan Markle’s sad miscarriage news while hosting The Project on Thursday.
While chatting to co-host Marc Fennell about Meghan’s brave message, they discussed how different the announcement would have been if Meghan was still part of the Royal family.
In an emotional personal essay written for The New York Times, titled “The Losses We Share”, the Duchess of Sussex detailed her devastation of suffering a miscarriage.

“After changing (Archie’s) diaper, I felt a sharp cramp. I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right,” she wrote.
She added: “Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears. Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal.”
The confronting op-ed allowed millions of people into a place they’d never been – inside Meghan and Harry’s life behind the headlines.

“My wife sent me this article today,” Fennell began.
“I remember reading it. There was a line, ‘I clutched my newborn child as I was losing my second.’ It was the most unbelievably heartbreaking piece of writing.
“I am so grateful, to some extent, that she was the one that got to share it on her terms. This could have been something that came out in a tabloid. It could have been handled so badly.
“It is such an intensely personal moment that I know lots of families will have felt around the world. But the fact that she got to share it, and she did so, so beautifully, it will mean a lot.”
Lisa agreed, and claimed that the message could have come differently if Meghan and Harry were still in the Royal Family.

“It was incredibly moving to read that. It’s also a reminder of why they left the Royal Family. You know, Charles Spencer, Diana’s brother, he’s spoken about it, and really sent his deep condolences.
“The Royal Family, in the meantime, say this is a deeply personal matter, we don’t discuss this. So, had Meghan still been part of the Royal Family, she wouldn’t have been able to share that story and help lots of other women, and couples, going through the same thing.”
While news of Meghan and Harry’s bereavement has been kept under wraps since it happened in July, the royal family was reportedly told about the Sussexes’ miscarriage at the time it happened, and a palace source has told People: “There is a lot of sadness around the family.”
However, the Palace did not react with much warmth or sympathy at all.
