A photo from pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen’s concert is going viral for an unexpected reason.
Jepsen, 38, is known for her signature bubblegum pop sound, and she’s most famous for her smash hit Call Me Maybe, which came out in 2012, but she’s carved out a critically acclaimed pop career for herself since with tunes like Run Away with Me and Your Type.
She’s also famous for her signature fringe hairstyle, unapologetically sparkly outfits, and enduring embracement of all things camp and fun. She’s a traditional pop singer in every sense of the word.
You’d probably assume that her concerts, much like Taylor Swift’s, would be crammed with women singing out their hearts to her lyrics about heartbreak, dating and falling in love, but a recent image that has surfaced online has revealed she has a huge male fan base.
A fan account for the singer Lorde posted a photo from Jepsen’s recent Brazil concert on X.
At first glance, it looks pretty typical: a bunch of people crammed together, looking up at a stage, waiting for the pop singer to grace them with her presence.
But what is interesting is the majority of the crowd is overwhelmingly male.
The Lorde fan account shared the photo after letting fans know they wouldn’t be posting any Lorde content tonight.
Yet the image has amassed over six million views, and people in the comments were quick to comment on Jepsen’s chokehold on men.
“Where are the women?” One asked.
“Iconic,” another noted
“That audience makes sense. Carly really does speak to the bros, at least this bro,” one confirmed
“And so the legacy continues,” another tweeted cryptically.
“Why does Carly Rae Jepsen’s fan base consist almost exclusively of men?” One asked.
“Not a single woman in sight, I’m crying,” another joked.
“Yeah, the men-to-women ratio is way off,” someone observed.

Jepsen recently opened up toVarietyabouthaving such an enduring career after going viral way back in 2012.
She said that while she’d never “intentionally” attempted to go viral again, she does try and enjoy promoting her music.
“The best thing that I know to do for myself to survive the changing world that is music is to try to find the joyful elements of it. So when I’m looking at TikTok, if I’m finding it overwhelming, if I can find a way to enjoy it and embrace it and look at it as an avenue to have a short spurt of an advertisement for a song or a window into something that I think is funny, then it’s great,” she explained.
