Celebrities from all over stepped onto the Metropolitan Museum steps to honour Karl Lagerfeld at this year's Met Gala.
While many opted for the late designer's signature black and white and vintage Chanel looks, others decided to pay tribute in their own way.
Here are some of the moments.
Three tributes to Karl Lagerfeld's cat
It wouldn't be surprising if you thought this year's theme wasn't Mr Lagerfeld himself but his beloved cat, because three different celebrities had looks inspired by his feline friend, Choupette, when walking the carpet.
Jared Leto dressed as the fluffy cat and wandered the Met stairs, waving to onlookers, in what can only be described as a mascot costume.

"I could just imagine [Karl] looking down with a big smile on his face seeing Choupette in all her glory, his favourite little cat," Leto told Entertainment Tonight.
Doja Cat's cat-eared hood on a sparkling white and silver-beaded dress was an ode by Oscar de la Renta. She wore prosthetics that gave her a feline face and claws.
In an interview with Emma Chamberlain, Doja Cat didn't stray from her character.

Lil Nas X's tribute appeared less obvious, featuring whiskers in his look, but that was the only subtle thing about the outfit.
Choupette had been rumoured to attend but her humans posted on Instagram earlier in the day the 11-year-old feline was staying put in Paris.

Transformations on the carpet
It's not a Met Gala without a few outfit transformations.
Janelle Monae arrived on the carpet in an extremely oversized black and white coat before it was taken off to reveal a see-through black hoop dress underneath.

Jared Leto decided he couldn't be Choupette all night, so he took off his mascot costume to step into a black cape with bedazzled shoulder pads.
Sometimes one outfit isn't enough, and for Cardi B, two wouldn't cut it either.
The rapper first donned pink then switched to a full black ball gown.
Up top, she said, “is giving Karl, the house of Chanel and Karl at the same time".
Inside the Met Gala, she switched it up again with a pink and black houndstooth suit dress.

Black and white all over
Many guests wore black to walk the carpet — a colour Mr Lagerfeld wore almost exclusively.
Black-and-white combos were also plentiful.
Kristen Stewart wore the colour duo in a suit with a cropped white jacket.
And Cara Delevingne honored her old friend, Lagerfeld, with a ruffled white shirt-look short in front with a train at the back. Ruffled shirts were among Lagerfeld's favourites.
Gigi Hadid wore Givenchy, in black with feathers, a drop waist and sheer train in tulle.
Australian Margot Robbie wore a 1993 Chanel gown in black that Cindy Crawford first wore on a runway.
“I feel really great in it. It's an honour," she said.
