Radio host and TV presenter Erin Molan says she feels like a stalker as she tries to win back Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s friendship after the pair fell out over a column she wrote.
The media personality and daughter of late Liberal senator Jim Molan revealed her relationship with the PM seems to have fizzled out since her Daily Telegraph column titled: “Trust me Albo it’s over, I’m breaking up with you” was published in March.
She believes the PM is now ghosting her.
While she defended the column saying it was targeting ‘‘stupid tax things for people who don’t get impacted” rather than Albanese himself, she said she has not heard back from the leader since it was published — despite a series of pleas from her end.
Molan says she sent the PM a video message and never heard back.
Then she sent a photo of her computer screen which showed where she had written something complimentary about him, and once again, no dice.
She went on to send him another article and still received no reply.
When she sent him a clip in which she defends him publicly it was met with silence.
Molan eventually sent the PM a text saying, “I feel like a stalker.”
Albanese has still not replied.
Molan says she’d enjoyed a very good friendship with the PM until now and that they would often text and phone each other.
He would also regularly come on 2DAY FM’s breakfast show with Hughesy, Ed and Erin and now she admits she really misses their friendship and feels “ghosted” by him.
“We used to laugh together,” Molan reminisced.
“We’ve had this great relationship for so long.”
The 2DAY FM host then opened up about how hard it is to write political columns without offending people.
“You try writing a political column every two weeks and trying to find something where you are not going to offend people,” she said.
“It’s hard to come up with bloody ideas to write about.
“You’re constantly scrounging and half the time you are making stuff up because it’s tough writing a column... and I don’t do the headlines.
“I didn’t write that headline and if you actually read my column, it’s to the Labor Government (where) it says yes, I am breaking up with you...not to Albo.”
She revealed there has been no contact between them since April 6, even though she has repeatedly tried reaching out.
However, she stopped short of issuing the PM an apology, explaining: “There is nothing in my article that is wrong.”
She added: “We invested so much in him when he was nothing to make sure we get access to him when he was something and I’ve now completely screwed it.
“Surely he cannot be that sensitive to a stupid article — a column — about tax stuff.
