Iconic Australian singer John Farnham has recovered from a respiratory infection which hospitalised him in March.
"We're pleased to say that John made a full recovery from a recent chest infection in late March which required hospitalisation," a statement from Jill, Rob and James Farnham said.
"He is now comfortable and continues to receive on going treatment and rehabilitation care."
Farnham's hospitalisation follows a cancer diagnosis in August last year.
The 73-year old spent 11-and-a-half hours on the operating table at a Melbourne hospital to remove a tumour from his mouth.
"The family would like to re-iterate their appreciation and deepest respect for all the medical staff that have attended to John over the past 8 months and the many thousands of kind messages that been received from across Australia and the world," the family's statement said.
While the Farnham family has asked for privacy, fans of Farnham are encouraged to send personal messages of love through a website dedicated to his recovery.
Farnham is one of Australia's most successful performers, with his 1986 album Whispering Jack selling more than 1.6 million copies.
He was named Australian of the Year in 1987, and has won 19 ARIA awards.
