My Kitchen Rules officially cancelled come 2022 says Seven boss - NEWS.com.au

It looks like the beloved home cooking show My Kitchen Rules is not coming back for another season, says Channel 7 CEO Angus Ross.

In an exclusive interview with TV BlackBox, Ross revealed his plans for 2022 and “beyond”.

With rumours swirling about MKR coming to an end after the disgraced celebrity chef Pete Evans was booted off the show, Ross has explained how it’s “too soon” to bring the show back.

“We’d like to revisit the format at some point but at the moment it feels way too soon.

“It’s certainly not anywhere in next year’s schedule.”

In February 2020, chef Colin Fassnidge, who is a regular on MKR, explained to KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O that the show wasn’t doing well because of the drama.

“I think we’re getting crucified for a little incident a couple of years ago with Sonya and Hadil – remember they got kicked out of the show?” he said.

“And the drama went through the roof and a lot of people got turned off.”

Once one of Australia’s most successful TV shows, the ratings took a huge nosedive with former Channel 10 executive producer and TV commentator Rob McKnight telling news.com.au that the show was “dead”.

My Kitchen Rules is dead. There won’t be any more of the show. You might as well write the eulogy and prepare the coffin … it will not be back again.”

It all came to a head in May 2020, when Pete Evans was dumped from the network.

TV Blackbox claimed at the time that “the separation was an amicable decision” and that Evans was going to focus on his ‘alternative lifestyle’ empire.

While he was initially dumped after receiving a $25,000 fine by the Therapeutic Goods Administration over magical coronavirus eradication properties he claimed about a “BioCharger” device in a Facebook livestream promotion, the events that soon following crushed his career entirely.

When Seven denied to comment on his actions, it was taken as a clear indicator he was removed from the network for good.

“If he was still a trusted, loved star within the network they would be front footing this,” Mr Molk said on the TV Blackbox podcast. “That we have heard nothing from them speaks volumes.”

Soon after came Evans’ Nazi scandal that cost him ‘millions’, lost him several brand deals. His controversial anti-vax comments about the Covid-10 jab soon got him banned off social media.
