3 things to watch this weekend: Emma Stone's stylish and devilish take on a classic Disney villain - Nine

The official start of winter is just days away, but let's be real, it feels like it has already hit. Time to grab that extra doona, double layer socks and crank up the heating. It's going to get chilly outside.

Thankfully, we recommend nothing more than spending the entire weekend indoors watching the best entertainment that's dropping on streaming services this week. Stay warm and enjoy.

Cruella

What: Emma Stone's Cruella is a prequel to the original 101 Dalmatians saga, which Disney adapted from the 1956 novel by Dodie Smith. Like with Angelina Jolie's Maleficent, the film follows Cruella's backstory. In fact, at the beginning of this story, the character's name isn't even Cruella, it's Estella.

Set in 1970s London, amid the punk rock revolution, the film follows a young grifter named Estella. She's a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. One day, Estella's flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman (Emma Thompson), a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute. But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that causes Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable and revenge-bent Cruella. It's the character that terrified us all as children.

Stone is brilliant in this role and is extraordinarily devilish. The film also stars Joel Fry, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Jon McCrea. Glenn Close, who previously played the character in the previous 1996 live-action adaptation 101 Dalmatians and its sequel 102 Dalmatians, also serves as the film's executive producer.

The show follows three millennial women, Jane (Katie Stevens), Kat (Aisha Dee) and Sutton (Meghann Fahy), living their best lives in New York City. The show is inspired by the life and career of former editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine Joanna Coles.

If you're up-to-date, then get excited, because Season 5, aka, the final season is here! The show picks up immediately after the events of the Season 4 finale and we have a lot of questions we want answered.

When: Episode 1 is streaming now. New episodes drop every Thursday. Seasons 1-4 are also streaming.

Where: Stan.

The Tomorrow People

What: The Tomorrow People is technically an action science-fiction teen series based on the English series of the same name. But really, The Tomorrow People is about cramming as many incredibly good-looking actors in the one show. Home and Away heartthrob, Luke Mitchell, Robbie Amell and Peyton List all headline this series. If you don't recognise those names, we suggest you Google them immediately.

But it's not just about pretty people. The series follows humans who, as a result of evolutionary development, have become early instances of the next state of human evolution, known as the Tomorrow People. Our lead character is Stephen Jameson (Amell), a newly emergent member of the Tomorrow People, as was his father. But his father disappeared years before the current events in the series while trying to find a place where they could live safely. The Tomorrow People are hunted by Ultra, an anti-telepath genetic cleansing organization that uses Tomorrow People to hunt down others and neutralize, or kill, them.

Outside Ultra, the Tomorrow People's parents and loved ones, the existence of the Tomorrow People is unknown to the general public, as they fear greater persecution.

The series explores themes of being different, self-discovery and fighting to stay alive.

The series was sadly cancelled after one season, but thankfully 9Now is offering every episode of the series (for free) for you to binge all weekend long.

When: Every episode now streaming.

Where: 9Now.
