Hearts broke across Australia when Elly Miles told Joe Woodbury he wasn’t the one for her on The Bachelorette finale last night.
Taking it like a true champion, news.com.au can now reveal the 25-year-old rugby star sent a sweet text to winner Frazer Neate during the episode, after penning a dignified Instagram post to fans.
According to Frazer, the two men are still close friends, and have been checking in with each other throughout the season airing.
It comes as Elly faced a difficult decision over whether to pick up where things left off with Joe, who she knew before filming began, or strike up a new relationship with Frazer.

She ultimately chose Brisbane-local Frazer, despite Joe confessing to falling in love with her.
“Me and Joe are very good mates. We get along really well and always said no matter what happens we’ll still remain friends. We talked last night and texted this morning so things between us are all fine,” Frazer told news.com.au this morning.
“Obviously it was pretty emotional,” he added.
“He just wished me all the best of luck with everything and said he was happy for us, and I just said he should be really proud of himself, he handled himself really well.
“He handled it like a real gentleman and it goes to show what kind of man he is. Whoever ends up with Joe is going to be very lucky because he’s a ripper.”

Breaking protocol by having a heart-to-heart with him in his room rather than the usual break-up scene, Elly told Joe last night that while she was happy to hear he was falling in love with her, but “didn’t feel the way she was supposed to feel”.
“I’d be lying to myself and I’d be lying to you if I didn’t come and tell you honestly that my heart is elsewhere. Joe, I’m so sorry,” she said.
“You’re incredible El. You deserve to find love. You deserve the world,” Joe responded.
After the episode, Joe shared a lengthy message about fate and how everything happens for a reason.
“Sometimes things don’t work out, no matter how much we want them to, and that’s just life,” he posted.
“I’ve said from the beginning of this whole experience that I’m a firm believer of fate, and that everything happens for a reason, and for me this means that it hasn’t been my fate to find love here.”
He added that he’s able to hold his head high, knowing that he put his emotions out “on the table”.

Meanwhile, new couple Elly and Frazer are taking things slow and steady, with the pair staying in their home states and giving long-distance a go until next year.
“We’ll go back and forth a little bit until next year and then I’ll probably make the move up north,” Newcastle-based Elly said of their future plans in Brisbane.
“I think we’re excited that can just reach a sense of normality and go on dates and get to know each other through this crazy experience we’ve just been through.”
She went on to reveal that they haven’t said ‘I love you’ yet.
“Love is a big thing, that’s a big thing to say to someone. When we say it we want to make sure it’s the right time and it’s natural and not just because you’ve come off the back of a TV show about love,” she said.
Unfortunately for Elly’s big sister Becky, things with her chosen suitor Pete Mann didn’t work out.
Elly said she has “no ill will” towards Pete, who broke things off with Becky just three days after the show ended via FaceTime.
“I feel bad for Pete. I’ve got no ill will towards the guy … I do wish he gave it a bit more of a crack but he did what was right for him in the moment and I wish him all the best,” she said.
