Lady Gaga has sparked a fierce backlash from social media after she made a shocking confession in a recent interview.
Gaga faced a huge wave of angry criticism after she casually revealed that she performed five shows of her Chromatica Ball tour while testing positive for Covid.
The singer, who is promoting the release of her concert film, Gaga Chromatica Ball, made the wild confession this week and appeared to chuckle as she shared it with fans.
The star revealed that she “did five shows with Covid” as she didn’t want to cancel and disappoint the tens of thousands of supporters who planned to attend.
She explained: “I shared [the news] with everyone on my team. I said, ‘I don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable at work and you don’t have to perform and you don’t have to work that day, but I’m going to do the show’ because I just didn’t want to let all the fans down.
“And the way that I saw it also is like the fans were all putting themselves in harm’s way every day coming to the show.”
Gaga sparked an angry wave of backlash on social media in response to her confession, with many labelling the star “reckless” and “irresponsible”.
“Wow. To say this was wildly irresponsible is an understatement,” ranted one fan on Reddit, with another agreeing, labelling the star “disgusting”.
“It’s disgusting to those who died from covid. How did she think it was a good idea??” complained the fan.

A third fan hit out: “This is disgustingly ableist. It has really changed my opinion of her, and contributes to the ongoing minimisation of Covid and neglect of those who suffered.”
“As someone who has serious health issues and could die from a simple flu gone wrong not mentioning covid I feel rage and the urge for violence when I hear stories like that,” said another enraged fan.
While another lashed out, saying: “Good god didn’t she raise a ton of money for Covid research in the beginning of the pandemic? This is disappointing. People are still dying and becoming disabled from this shit. It’s not a flex to intentionally put others at risk.”
