Jeopardy! producer Michael Davies has broken his silence over The Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik’s controversial exit from the hit quiz show.
Bialik, who started hosting the game show in 2021, recently announced she’d been told by bosses that she’d no longer be on hosting duties in December.
Following her firing, TV presenter Ken Jennings has now become the sole presenter of the hit game show.
Following her exit, producer Davies has described Bialik as a “superb host” but revealed that her firing came as the result of a need for “more consistency”.
“When I took over the show, we were really forced into that situation from everything that happened before, the guest hosting period,” Davies said during the ‘Unscripted Storytellers’ panel.
“Mayim was left hosting the prime time versions; I brought in Ken to guest-host once Mayim had her schedule on her Fox sitcom.
“Over the past two-and-a-half seasons, what we’ve heard from a lot of television stations and other interested parties is that they wanted more consistency.
“They wanted a single host.”
Last December, the actress took to Instagram to share the news with fans, and in her statement she insisted that the decision hadn’t been her own.
“As the holiday break begins in Hollywood, I have some Jeopardy! news,” she wrote.
“Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!
“I am incredibly honoured to have been nominated for a prime time Emmy for hosting this year and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the Jeopardy! family.”

Balik has faced a wave of social media backlash in recent months, and recently turned off her comments on Instagram as a result.
In December, around the time of her firing, the star faced intense complaints on Instagram and TikTok after posing a video in which she suggested that people with certain views on the Israel-Hamas conflict might be antisemitic.
The actress isn’t new to controversies either, after facing backlash in 2009 for claiming in an interview with People Magazine that hers was a “non-vaccinating” family, adding: “We based our decision on research and discussions with our pediatrician, and we’ve been happy with that decision.”
