One of the stars of Netflix show Outer Banks has broken his silence after being arrested for allegedly attacking hospital staff.
A police report obtained by TMZ revealed that actor Austin North was taken into custody after allegedly attacking several staff members in the emergency room at the University Medical Center hospital, Las Vegas, on Tuesday.
North allegedly punched a nurse in the head and shoved another in the face before pushing another nurse into a table.
The nurse then reportedly used a tray nearby and hit him in the head as an act of self defence. Hospital security finally restrained North and handcuffed him to a bed, but not before he allegedly attacked another victim, whose function in the medical centre was not clear, according to TMZ.
Officers were dispatched to the scene where they spoke to the alleged victims after reports of assault and battery.
In a statement on his Instagram Story Thursday, North addressed the incident following his arrest.
He told his followers that he was having a “severe anxiety attack” and has “very little memory” of the incident.
“I am deeply upset by the events that took place in Las Vegas this past week. My friend drove me to the hospital because I thought I was having a heart attack. Several tests were taken, including blood, which came back negative for any drugs or alcohol in my system. I was having a severe anxiety attack,” wrote the actor.
“I have very little memory of the events that day at the hospital. I have the utmost respect for healthcare workers and hospital staff,” he continued. “I have battled anxiety on and off for years and this was the most extreme panic attack I’ve ever had. Going forward, I hope to shed light on this debilitating disorder and send hope to those who have also struggled.”

After being taken into custody, the Netflix star was booked for gross misdemeanour battery.
He was then later released on bail.
It’s unclear if the incident will affect production on season 4 of Outer Banks, which is currently filming. North plays the king of the younger “Kooks,” Topper Thornton, on the hit show, which follows a group of teenagers known as “the Pogues” who hunt for a legendary treasure linked to the disappearance of one of their fathers.
