Hollywood awards season is slightly shifting its tune for music’s biggest night on Monday with the annual Grammy Awards.
In what’ll be music to the ears of feminists following decades of male domination, female artists are almost entirely leading the nominations for the 66th Grammys, which are taking place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
And it’s Australian pop star Kylie Minogue who has kickedstarted festivities, picking up her second ever Grammy during the pre-televised awards. She won Best Pop Dance Recording for last year’s electropop hit Padam Padam.
Minogue beat an impressive field of global stars including Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Ellie Goulding, Bebe Rexha and fellow Aussie Troye Sivan.
Taking to social media with a celebratory video, the Spinning Around singer can be seen being told by someone, “Two-time Grammy winner”, as she screams and dances around her hotel room in a bathrobe.
Minogue has been nominated six times over her decades-long music career, and last won at the 2004 awards, taking home Best Dance Recording for Come into My World.
Elsewhere, Taylor Swift, SZA, Olivia Rodrigo, Lana Del Rey and Billie Eilish are just a handful of women saturating the key categories, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
SZA officially leads the pack with nine nods, followed by Phoebe Bridgers and Victoria Monét who earned seven nominations apiece. Rodrigo, Swift, Eilish and Miley Cyrus each scored six.
The Grammys, airing locally on Channel 7 at midday on Monday, Australian time, will be hosted by comedian Trevor Noah, in what marks his fourth consecutive year taking centre stage.
Here’s the full list of Grammy nominations, which will be updated live as winners are announced:
