Aussie detail in fresh Abbie pics - news.com.au

Abbie Chatfield ended 2023 by doing the most Aussie thing ever and looked absolutely fabulous.

Chatfield, 28, was spotted popping into her local Bunnings in Bryon Bay and was rocking a yellow two-piece.

She kept it casual and wore a crop top and some fun summer shorts and it was giving big holiday vibes, although in Hemsworth style Chatfield also owns her own million dollar home in Byron Bay.

Yep, this is just her life.

The reality television star turned social media phenomenon, who has almost half a million followers on Instagram, kept her hair tied up and her sunglasses on as she headed into the hardware store.

It was highly relatable; who doesn’t end the year by tasking themselves with some DIY project that eventually turns from fun to torture?

Chatfield even stopped to enjoy the classic Bunnings sausage sizzle and grabbed a snag for hopefully $2.50.

There’s barely anything more Aussie than a trip to Bunnings during that weird period between Christmas and New Year – where time doesn’t exist and days blur.

If Chatfield was wearing an Akubra, driving a Holden and blaring Shannon Noll that would have pushed her Aussie action onto a new level, but this was pretty close to Aussie perfection; she even had her toes out for the occasion!

Chatfield has had a massive year, where she’s done everything from hosting her radio show, Hot Nights with Abbie Chatfield, to hosting Binge’s F-Boy Island and running her own podcast it’s a lot.

Her success has reached such heights that she’s now learning she needs to say no to significant opportunities.

She walked away from her successful radio show to find more work/life balance in August, and at the time she took to Instagram to share, she was “proud” of herself for deciding to put her energy into projects that bring her joy and energise her and made it clear she wasn’t fired from radio.

In November, she opened up further about her decision on The Project and said that it wasn’t very hard to make when it came down to it.

“No. It was so easy. I was thinking about it for about a year. I was just really exhausted,” she explained.

Chatfield said that since she decided to pull the plug, she’s never been “happier” and she’s looking forward to having more free time.

Monthly News from Susan Miller — January 2024 - Susan Miller Astrology Zone - Astrology Zone

Dear Reader,

We stand at the threshold of a fresh New Year, which is always an exciting moment in time, for a New Year is always laden with possibilities. To be given life is a gift, and by studying astrology we can make good use of our time. We can see which goals would be more easily realized and which ones will require effort, patience, and determination to achieve. Nothing is predestined, so a lot of the success of a year will depend on your desires and what means the most to you. We all partner with a loving universe.

January is due to be a sweet and highly productive month, so I urge you to set things in motion this month rather than wait until February, which will bring a number of obstacles. The delays you experienced in December will melt away, for Mercury will go direct January 1 late in the day (10:07 PM EST, 7:07 PM PST, and on January 2 at 3:07 AM GMT). As always, leave a space of several days after Mercury goes direct before signing important papers or initiating an important endeavor.

Jupiter just recently went direct on December 30. If you feel that Jupiter has not delivered any special luck and happiness that you expected after this planet of good fortune first entered Taurus on May 16, 2023, the first months of 2024 will bring a far better chance of delivering on that promise. Jupiter will remain in Taurus until May 25, 2024. After that, Jupiter will move to Gemini and start to pour good fortune into new part of your chart.

I love January. Mars moves into Capricorn on January 4, a place Mars is said by the ancient astrologers to be exalted. That’s Mars’ finest, strongest sign to be in. Said another way, Capricorn is the best sign to experience the full force of Mars’ energy and drive. Mars teaches us how to compete well, and this month you will absorb his lessons easily.

On January 9, the Sun in Capricorn will trine Uranus in Taurus, heaping good surprises on you, depending on where you have Taurus in your chart. (Just read my forecast.) On the same day, Mars and Saturn will be in sweet collaboration, suggesting your actions will have weight and longevity.

One of the best new moons we have seen in ages comes on January 11, and it will be in Capricorn. It will open the door to opportunity to achieve goals on a grand scale, including ones that are financial in nature. Uranus will be outstandingly helpful (for a change!), while Jupiter and Saturn will ALSO be in rare sync and help you set up a structure to get to where you want to go.

Mars receives a rare divine trine from Jupiter on January 12, meaning this day (and the day prior) your actions will likely lead to profit.

A fine day to sign paper will be when Mercury trines Jupiter—January 19.

A monumental day will be when Pluto enters Aquarius on January 20 for the first time since the American and French Revolutions. Pluto takes 248 years to revolve around the Sun, so no one alive today has ever had any experience with Pluto in this sign. This will be a new experience of the entire planet.

We did get a brief preview of Pluto in Aquarius last year from March 23 to June 11, 2023, but now Pluto will settle into Aquarius, permanently, only retrograding back to Capricorn for a few weeks, September 1 to November 19, 2024. After that, Pluto will remain in Aquarius until January 19, 2044, a period of 20 years.

This is such a monumental change that I wrote quite a bit about it in my e-book, “The Next 200 Years,” available on Kindle and BookBaby.com. This will certainly put the Aquarians at the head of the parade, making most of the headlines. Life as we know it will change when futuristic developments change the look and feel of everyday society. That happened to our predecessors with the Industrial Revolution—now our generation is ready for another major change.

The month’s full moon in Leo on January 25 will also be one that is due to bring good news. Admittedly, Pluto will try to create a problem, but he’ll simply be outnumbered by the enchanting vibrations of other planets swirling in the heavens.

Uranus will go direct on January 26, another sign that things are moving forward with gusto.

From January 26 to 29 there will be a slew of happy vibrations, ending the month with a feeling that, indeed, life can be one of milk and honey.

If you have my annual Year Ahead 2024 Astrological Wall Calendar (with fashion illustrations by French illustrator, Izak Zenou), you already know about all these sparkling dates and the many others sprinkled through January and the rest the year. Printed in rich colors on archival paper, it is a beautiful, collectable luxury product at $25.99 plus shipping. It includes 13 months, with January 2025.

To learn more, go to my homepage (Astrologyzone.com), and click on the calendar cover near the top of the page. You will come to a list of features and sample art and a will see a way to order it from our fulfillment house. I wrote every word—it takes me seven months to complete, start to finish, for we do many double checks. I know you will love it! Be sure to look for my list of “Dates That Shape 2024” contained in a box in the inside cover, and above it, a list of the four eclipses of 2024.

You may already know about the hard time I have had beginning September 17 when I lost all eyesight in both eyes due to a serious eye infection. Things looked hopeful 10 weeks later when I began to see again, but then I started to go backwards. My doctor and I agreed that he had stopped the steroid drops a little too early, so I am back on them—the infection is long gone, but I am struggling with stubborn inflammation in the eyes.

I am also having problem with the new medicine he has given me. As of today, I am still struggling with my vision. My doctor might adjust medications when I see him on January 2. He was never sure I could regain my vision, so the fact that I got better was a good sign. How am I writing at all? I know where the keys are, and don’t have to look! I am also holding a big magnifying glass.

On top of this, I got a severe case of COVID in early December, but thankfully, after sleeping around the clock for 10 days in self-isolation, I recovered just in time to enjoy Christmas. This was my first bout with COVID in all the years it’s been raging in the world. It’s my fault that I got it. I never got the newest COVID booster. Although I had planned to get the shot, I found dealing with blindness so scary and all encompassing that I didn’t want to deal with the slight nausea the shot usually gives me. I learned my lesson!

I am excited that I will doing a three-hour afternoon appearance on Sunday January 14 in Sherman Oaks, California (that’s in the valley in Los Angeles) at a lovely spacious gift boutique called Liberate Yourself. Here is the information.

John Pilger, Australia-born journalist and filmmaker known for covering Cambodia, dies at 84 - 9News

John Pilger, an Australia-born journalist and documentary filmmaker known for his coverage of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, has died, his family said Sunday. He was 84.

A statement from his family, posted on X, formerly Twitter, said Pilger died on Saturday in London.

“His journalism and documentaries were celebrated around the world, but to his family he was simply the most amazing and loved dad, grandad and partner," the statement said.

Pilger, who has been based in Britain since 1962, worked for Britain's left-leaning Daily Mirror newspaper, broadcaster ITV’s investigative program World In Action and for the Reuters news agency.

He won an International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences award for his 1979 film “Year Zero: The Silent Death Of Cambodia,” which revealed the extent of the Khmer Rouge’s atrocities. He followed that with a 1990 documentary titled “Cambodia: The Betrayal,” which examined international complicity in the Khmer Rouge remaining a threat.

He also won acclaim for a 1974 documentary looking into the campaign for compensation for children after concerns were raised about birth defects when expectant mothers took the drug Thalidomide.

Pilger was known for his opposition to American and British foreign policy, and he was also highly critical of Australia’s treatment of its Indigenous population.

In more recent years, he campaigned for the release of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who has fought a lengthy battle against extradition to the United States.

Kevin Lygo, managing director of media and entertainment at ITV, described Pilger as “a giant of campaigning journalism” who offered viewers a level of analysis and opinion that was rare in mainstream television.

"He had a clear, distinctive editorial voice which he used to great effect throughout his distinguished filmmaking career. His documentaries were engaging, challenging and always very watchable," Lygo said.

“He eschewed comfortable consensus and instead offered a radical, alternative approach on current affairs and a platform for dissenting voices over 50 years," he added.

Australian political activist John Pilger dies aged 84 | news.com.au — Australia's leading news site - news.com.au

Renowned radical left-wing political activist and journalist John Pilger has died aged 84.

Mr Pilger’s family announced his passing to X on December 31.

“It is with great sadness the family of John Pilger announce he died yesterday December 30, 2023 in London aged 84,” his family said. “His journalism and documentaries were celebrated around the world but to his family he was simply the most amazing and loved Dad, Grandad and partner. Rest In Peace.”

Mr Pilger, born and raised in Sydney, gained international fame for his long career as a writer and documentary filmmaker waging war on what he saw as political and economic injustices in the world.

He was a fierce and relentless critic of Australian, British and American foreign policy.

He produced documentaries about wars in Cambodia, East Timor and Iraq and Afghanistan and wrote eight books, including Heroes, which celebrates the people he met throughout his years as a reporter.

Mr Pilger was also a staunch supporter of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

ABC broadcaster Phillip Adams took to X to express his sadness at the news.

“Vale John Pilger. Friend of mine, Julian Assange and of the truth. A sad end to a bad year,” he wrote.

The official WikiLeaks X account said the world would be poorer for his passing.

“The veteran journalist, writer and filmmaker was a ferocious speaker of truth to power, whom in later years tirelessly advocated for the release and vindication of Julian Assange,” the organisation stated.

British politician George Galloway expressed his sorrow at the news, writing: “This is extremely sad news and millions around the world will feel they lost somebody special”.

“To his family and to Australia his loss will be felt most keenly of all. A Great journalist, a fine man, a tower of strength has fallen.”

Irish actor Liam Cinningham, who has starred in films such as The Wind That Shakes the Barley and The Guard, praised Mr Pilger as a “magnificent thorn” in the side of authority.

“If you are considering becoming a real journalist, study this man’s work,” he wrote.

Pink Floyd musician Roger Waters called Mr Pilger a “great man”.

“We will carry you in our hearts forever, you will always be there to give us strength. Love R,” he wrote.

Killer Khan dead at 76, WWE legend remembered as cult hero, Kurtis Chapman dead at 76 - Fox Sports

The wrestling world has been rocked by the deaths of two wrestling figures on the same day.

WWE Masashi Ozawa, also known as Killer Khan, passed away on Saturday at the age of 76.

According to multiple reports, Khan, who wrestled Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant, collapsed at his bar and was taken to a hospital. He died after suffering a ruptured artery.

Ozawa lost consciousness at the counter of Kanchan’s Jinjo Sakaba in Nishi-Shinjuku, Tokyo, and was rushed to hospital, The Sun reports.

The Japanese legend, native of Niigata Prefecture, turned to professional wrestling in 1971.

He competed against fellow WWE legends Andre the Giant and the “Superman” Hulk Hogan, and was active as a main eventer in Japan and the United States.

Ozawa retired in 1987 and opened his business Izakaya Kanchan’ in Shinjuku Ward, which closed in 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The retired wrestler had also made his debut as a singer in 2005 with Furusato Makaka (Japan Crown), and released songs such as Shinjuku Sanhyakugoya.

The devastating news came just 24 hours after the death of “gifted” professional wrestler Kurtis Chapman came to light.

“Mad Kurt” sadly passed away in what has been described as a “massive loss to the UK wrestling scene”.

Revolution Pro, a British wrestling promotion, shared the news following his death.

In a heartfelt statement they said: “We, at Revolution Pro Wrestling are absolutely heartbroken to report the loss of our dear friend Kurtis Chapman.

“We watched Kurtis grow from a child to a young man who loved professional wrestling and continued to excel in all aspects of his life.

“One of the most gifted technical wrestlers, charismatic characters and magnetic personalities. He will never be forgotten.”

Chapman was described as “one of the most gifted technical wrestlers” and was known for his light-hearted style.

Tributes have since poured in for the young star.

Professional wrestler “Big Wavy” Roy Johnson wrote on X: “Awful news. Kurtis was such a character and so fun to be around. RIP.”

Something strange is happening to Carrie - news.com.au

Carrie Bickmore is in her forties, and right now, she’s never been more popular, and it feels like a middle finger to a lie women have been told.

When you’re a woman, you get told about all the things that might make you fat and how you have an expiry date.

You’ll be told that while men can be silver foxes, you’ll only ever become Mumsie as you age.

You’ll never be described as a bachelorette over forty; instead, you’ll be seen as some sad spinster.

Your best years are in your twenties and maybe in your thirties at a stretch. and ultimately you spend your life going downhill.... but Carrie defies all that nonsense.

Typically the culture then enforces this idea that women become less valued as they older.

You’ll see female pop singers sink in popularity just as they enter their thirties, and male entertainers continue to thrive sometimes into their eighties.

You’ll watch as Sonia Kruger is asked how she stays so ageless in almost every interview that ever exists, but no one will ever ask Karl Stefanovic for skincare tips.

So when Carrie became one of the most talked about people in 2023, that was oddly reassuring; she might not have been a fan of the glaring attention but it was a positive thing for women to see.

Carrie announced her separation from her long-term partner, Chris Walker, in early January of 2023, and from there, she was having a moment.

There was speculation about her dating, her next job opportunity, her fashion, and her swimsuit body, and it was endless and relentless, but there was a hunger for it.

I’m sure, in some depths of the online world, it was sexist, but the majority was overwhelmingly positive.

Carrie wasn’t treated like a sad woman in her forties who would be lucky to land any man with a pulse and superannuation.

No, she was seen as Australia’s most eligible Bachelor that anyone would be lucky to be linked to.

After a decade run on the program, she infamously left 10’s The Project and decided instead to concentrate on her successful radio show alongside comedian Tommy Little.

No one was remarking that she was on her way out of show business and about to be replaced by a younger model.

Nope! She’s being seen as a hot commodity, and people are eager to see her next move and fingers are crossed that she’ll return to television.

More Coverage

As for her bikini body, I mean, any conversation about a woman’s body is complex and, to a certain extent, problematic, but once again, people are commenting fire emojis under her bathing suit photos. It is clear she’s seen as gorgeous, sexy, desirable, certainly not on the shelf and expired.

I don’t think the continual success of Carrie erases all the ageism that women still experience, of course not, but I think it does show things are changing, the culture is changing, and Carrie is thriving.

The idea that women have an expiry date has always been a lie, and it looks like society is finally on its way to not believing it.

Martha Stewart, 82, shares sexy lingerie pic - news.com.au

The queen of thirst traps is back.

Martha Stewart couldn’t let 2023 go without posting yet another sultry selfie on Instagram, showing off a photo of herself looking fresh-faced in lacy lingerie on Friday despite a “horrible” trip to Florida, reports Page Six.

The 82-year-old lifestyle guru wore a pale green Sabbia Rosa nightgown with lace trim and a matching robe in the pic, wearing her blonde hair tousled to the side as she pouted in a mirror.

“After an eight hour plane trip from westchester to palm beach- horrible by the way – we went to bed early and wore my beautiful @sabbiarosa nightgown (linen with robe),” she captioned the photo.

Stewart added, “I didn’t look so bad when I got up at least not as bad as I did when I went to bed – it must be the $$$$$outfit!!”

While Sabbia Rosa doesn’t sell its pricey lingerie online, the Parisian boutique is known for its high-end nightwear including luxe silk pieces like Stewart’s look — and even ships internationally via phone for Stewart fans around the world.

Unsurprisingly, fans went wild for the cookbook author’s sassy selfie, like one who wrote, “SHE WOKE UP LIKE THIS.”

“Thirst Trap Martha is my favourite Martha,” another Instagram user added, while a third wrote, “We were due for a thirst trap and the people have been waiting!”

Ellen Pompeo also weighed in, writing, “Smoke show!!️” and Stewart’s longtime facialist, Mario Bedescu, added, “LOOKING UNREAL MARTHA!”

“Martha chill my man is on this app!!” Fenty Beauty’s global makeup artist, Priscilla Ono, joked.

Stewart has shown off plenty of viral pics over the past few years ranging from a saucy poolside look to a cheeky photo at celebrity fave hair salon John Barrett.

Wills & Kate share unseen photo of kids - news.com.au

And that’s a royal wrap.

Prince William and Kate Middleton marked the end of 2023 by sharing a never-before-seen photo of their three children on social media, reports Page Six.

The previously unreleased image, which was taken during the family’s Father’s Day shoot from June, features William, 41, smiling on a bench while wrapping his arms around Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, all of whom co-ordinated in blue outfits.

“2023. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our year,” the Prince and Princess of Wales tweeted Friday.

The couple’s video roundup also included George, Charlotte and Louis‘ birthday portraits from this year.

Another snap featured the young trio delivering letters to struggling children at their mum’s third annual Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey earlier this month.

The montage also showed George and Charlotte all dressed up with their dad at their grandfather King Charles III’s coronation ceremony in May.

Also included in the digital collage were photos of William and Middleton, both 41, over the past year.

The future king threw his hands up gleefully in one shot while shooting hoops with soccer player Tyrone Mings as they spread awareness about homelessness in June.

William was also seen smiling for a few selfies with adoring fans.

Meanwhile, the princess was shown cycling at a spin class during a February visit to Wales. She was also captured going for a walk with radio host Roman Kemp for her Shaping Up campaign, which she launched that same month.

The pair also shared loving moments together in many of the snaps.

They walked side-by-side in formalwear in a sweet photo from the wedding of Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa Al Hussein in June. William and Middleton also dazzled in an image from their red carpet appearance at the 2023 BAFTA Awards.

Other already seen photos in the post included Middleton’s Mother’s Day photo shoot in May and the family’s Christmas portraits this month.

“Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas, from our family to yours!” they wrote on social media on Christmas Day.

The festive shoot previously made headlines when one shot appeared to show Louis’ finger Photoshopped out. William and Middleton were reportedly shocked and embarrassed over the snafu.

The royal pair and their kids celebrated Christmas in co-ordinating outfits while attending a church service Monday.

‘Something’s wrong’: Dad’s incredible move - news.com.au

There’s not much a parent won’t do for their child. But an Aussie single dad has gone above and beyond to make sure his son grows up empowered, accepted and loved, even if it leaves him $10,000 out of pocket.

Six years ago, Andy Martin from Sydney’s Sutherland Shire received surprising news while he and his then-wife were expecting their first baby. At their 15-week scan, they were told their unborn child had a “defect”, as doctors had described it.

“Every scan you’re finding out something more about what’s wrong and, as the doctors call, it’s a ‘defect’,” Andy, 38, told news.com.au.

“No parent or no future parent wants to be told that. Obviously, it’s just their technical term, but from the first scan it was like, ‘Oh, we think there’s something wrong.’”

Further scans soon revealed that their baby, who they later name Archie, would be born with a

bilateral cleft lip and palate – when two halves of the roof of the mouth or the lip do not fuse together during early foetal development, leaving an open space or clef.

“We had to have a lot more scans as well throughout the pregnancy, but then it turned into, ‘OK, we think he’s got a unilateral cleft lip, which is just one side,’” recalls Andy, who works a high-powered corporate job in recruitment.

“Then the next scan was like, ‘Actually no, we think there’s a bilateral cleft, which is both sides.’ And then the next scan was like, ‘We think there’s actually also something on the palate’.”

From birth, Archie’s condition has seen him go in and out of hospitals. He is now 6 years old but already little Archie has had three major operations.

“He’s had his lip repaired after six months, and after 12 months, he had his full palate repaired. And then he’s also just had to go in for another tweak on his palate to further support his pronunciation of some words,” Andy tells us.

Archie is also undergoing speech therapy, seeing a speech pathologist on an ongoing basis.

“We do speech work with him every day and he’s been seeing a speech pathologist for years now, once a week,” Andy shares.

“That’ll be an ongoing thing to help support him in his livelihood.”

Andy and his wife divorced just before Archie turned two, which had a significant impact not just on Archie, but the entire family.

However, one main concern Andy had was for Archie to still feel love and a sense of belonging despite the split, while also wishing his son grows up feeling accepted and never defined by his condition.

So Andy – who has been writing poetry since he was a child himself – put pen to paper and began writing for Archie. And the dad-of-one’s book, Your Story Still Untold, was born.

Your Story Still Untold is an uplifting children’s book appreciating and celebrating uniqueness.

Through Andy’s beautiful words and poetry, and illustrator Valery Vell’s heartwarming drawings, the book helps children learn to face up to life’s challenges, such as bullying and separation, whileknowing that they are loved no matter what.

“I wanted to try and write something for him, which was talking to separation and knowing no matter where I am, or where he is or where his mum is, that he’s always loved. And it’s kind of that celebration that you’re never actually truly alone,” he explains.

“At that time, it was only designed to be a message for Arch and then obviously I’d read a lot of other books and there’s nothing that I ever read to him that signified the message or the tone I wanted to for him. Then it started making me think there’s probably also a lot of children that are in similar situations and are unique in their own way.”

After months of submitting and presenting his work to different publishers and receiving only an obligatory ‘Thanks for your submission’ reply, Andy took a more proactive approach and self-published the book himself last year.

With the help of hybrid publishing house Little Steps Publishing in Sydney, he was able to bring his words to life. Andy had to pay overheads to the tune of $10,000 and find his own illustrator, before Little Steps Publishing takes care of the rest, such as the printing, marketing, editing, production and distribution of his book.

It’s a small price to pay to get his story about love, self-belief and acknowledgment out there into the world.

“Honestly, it was never around making money. It was just trying to empower children,” Andy says. “For me, it was about knowing if I could make a difference to one kid or a parent or a carer. That’s my goal.”

And Andy also set out to make the main character – an endearing puppy dog – resemble Archie’s favourite puppy plush toy, making the finished product Archie’s world in literary form.

“The whole book is orchestrated around Archie’s life. So the main character is actually his favourite plush toy Doggy – it was his very first plush toy he had and he took it everywhere,” Andy explains.

“The main dog has a little cleft scar as well, so it really signifies Archie. What I love is I really did phrase the whole book around Archie being a main character.”

The book has come to be Archie’s favourite bedtime story, and he loves holding on to Doggy as his dad reads to him.

“We read it still at least once a week, and it’s one of his favourite books.” Andy says. “He does really enjoy it and he loves looking through the pictures. For him, he actually does relate to the book.”

Ultimately, the book is to help Archie and other unique children prepare themselves for a world that’s not always rainbows and roses. It will knock you down, but how you bounce back is what matters, Andy says.

“There are probably two key messages in the book. The first, you’re always loved and you will be loved no matter what. And the second is to really believe in yourself and know that you’re going to be make mistakes, but that’s OK. Just keep moving forward.”

Archie is set to finish Kindergarten this year and Andy couldn’t be prouder. There is still a long road ahead for the 6-year-old, but Andy is beyond proud of how far his son has come.

“He’s such a genuinely, authentically, funny little bugger. He still is doing speech work every day, but he’s in Kindy and he’s doing so well. His mum and I are so proud of him,” Andy says.

“He’s excelling in his class and he’s loving school. He could not be happier and we could not be happier for him. He tries his best at everything and that’s all we can ask.”

Andy Martin’s book Your Story Still Untold is available at Little Press Publishing, Dymocks and QBD Books.

Music legend sued for ‘sexual assault’ - news.com.au

Jermaine Jackson has been sued for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman named Rita Butler Barrett in Los Angeles in 1988.

The civil lawsuit for sexual battery, battery, sexual assault and negligence was filed by Barrett on Wednesday and obtained by Page Six on Thursday.

Barrett is also suing Jermaine L. Jackson Music Productions, Inc. and Work Records, Inc.

In her complaint, Barrett describes herself as “a survivor of sexual abuse, sexual battery, sexual assault, harassment and rape at the hands of” the former Jackson 5 member.

Barrett claims she came to know Jackson, now 69, when she worked as a musician’s contractor. Additionally, she claims the two had mutual “close personal/familial connections,” including Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, who was purportedly “simultaneously in a personal and business relationship” with Barrett’s husband.

According to Barrett, Jackson allegedly “forced himself” into her LA home after arriving unannounced in or around the spring of 1988.

“With force and violence,” he allegedly proceeded to sexually assault her, according to her filing. During the alleged attack, Barrett claims she “prayed to God for help” as she “feared for her life.”

When Jackson was allegedly “satiated,” Barrett claims he left her residence.

The following day, she claims she “reported the assault” to Gordy, now 94, who allegedly “withheld and concealed the acts, further perpetuating the cover-up.”

Barrett believes Gordy’s alleged inaction allowed him, Jackson and “others in the business relationship to continue to reap profits derived from [Jackson’s] work and reputation for years to come.”

Barrett notes that Motown Records was “sold for great profit” that June.

In her filing, Barrett claims Jackson “engaged and affirmatively participated in a conspiracy to cover up or prevent disclosure of information relating to the abuse,” which allegedly “consisted of a concerted effort to hide evidence relating to sexual assault that incentivised individuals to remain silent or prevent information relating to a sexual assault from becoming public or being disclosed to [Barrett].”

According to Barrett, the alleged cover-up denied her “the ability to mitigate her damages, obtain therapeutic support and disclose the trauma to others.”

She believes Jackson’s alleged behaviour was “oppressive,” “malicious,” “manipulative” and “despicable in that it was intentional. ”She claims she was “forced to suffer in silence and shame for decades,” adding that she “continues to suffer great emotional distress.”

In addition to emotional distress, Barrett claims she has suffered “physical pain, emotional anguish, fear, anxiety, humiliation [and] embarrassment,” in addition to “damages (both economic and noneconomic)” and “permanent disability.”

She claims her injuries are “substantial, continuing and permanent,” and she is demanding a trial by jury.

Reps for Jackson and Gordy did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.

Sweet tribute after celebrity chef’s death - news.com.au

The daughter of top Australian chef Bill Granger, who tragically died on Christmas Day, appears to be following in her dad’s footsteps.

The beloved restaurateur “died peacefully” aged 54 in a London hospital on Monday, with the shocking news of his death being shared by family on Instagram earlier today.

He leaves behind his wife Natalie Elliot and their three daughters, Edie, 22, Inès, 20, and Bunny, 19.

It is understood that the chef had sadly lost his battle with cancer after being diagnosed several months ago.

“A dedicated husband and father, Bill died peacefully in hospital with his wife Natalie Elliott and three daughters, Edie, Ines and Bunny at his bedside in their adopted home of London,” the post read.

“He will be deeply missed by all, with his loss most profoundly felt by his adored family, who are grateful for all the love and support that has been given.”

His middle daughter Inès commented “I love you dadda” on the poignant post.

The 20-year-old appears to be following in her father’s footsteps, with her Instagram page full of impressive culinary delights that she has whipped up over the years.

Her passion for cooking is showcased on the page, with photos displaying a host of different delicious meals, ranging from Mexican feasts, Italian creations, Asian delicacies and decadent deserts.

Recent recipes from Inès include a vegetable curry udon with onion, eggplant, zucchini, peppers and oyster mushrooms, a spinach and ricotta ravioli with butter, pan fried sage leaves and parmesan, and a lentil soup topped with parmesan, served alongside a mozzarella sourdough toasted sandwich.

The young woman was also the culinary mastermind behind her family’s Christmas Day lunch last year.

“Made Christmas lunch,” she wrote, alongside a picture of the impressive spread of food.

“Glazed ham, chopped salad w zucchini, sweet corn, asparagus, avocado and miso dressing, potato salad with parsley, pickles and mustard dressing (mayo free ofc), green salad w lettuce, cucumber, fennel, white wine vinegar and olive oil.”

Inès is a student at the City & Guilds of London Art School (CGLAS) and also often posts some of her other creative works to Instagram.

Back in June, she shared a photograph of a sweet Father’s Day card she made for her dad, which featured a fried-egg pattern alongside the words “Best sous chef ever”.

Her father also began an arts degree in his younger days, before dropping out and opening his first restaurant, bills, in Sydney’s Darlinghurst in 1992 at the age of 21.

A self-taught cook, he became a celebrated global restaurateur and food writer with a career spanning more than 30 years.

He and his wife Natalie began a professional partnership that launched the business globally. Together, they built a successful business that today has 19 restaurants across Sydney, London, Greater Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka and Seoul.

Granger authored 14 cookbooks, made five TV series, and was most recently honoured with the Medal of the Order of Australia in January 2023.

Tributes have poured in for Granger who has been living in Notting Hill in London since 2009.

Jamie Oliver commented on the Instagram post, saying the news was “devastating” and he would be “sorely missed”.

“What a guy he was … a wonderful human, kind calm soul … I admired everything he represented in food.

“I remember the first time I met him many moons ago he couldn’t have been nicer and his food so good.”

Nigella Lawson wrote she was “heartbroken”.

“Nat and dear dear girls, I’ve been thinking about you so so much, praying it was going to be different news. Sending you all our love and holding your beautiful husband and father forever in our hearts,” wrote Maggie Alderson.

Australian chef Darren Robertson, co-owner of Three Blue Ducks cafes, wrote Granger “changed the entire breakfast game, he was an absolute gentleman”.

Charles’ surprising bedtime habit revealed - news.com.au

A friend of King Charles has revealed some surprising details about the monarch’s habits when he’s at home at the palace.

Charles, who became King last year following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, is apparently quite the night owl.

Actress Sophie Winkleman — who is married to Lord Frederick Windsor, the son of the late Queen Elizabeth’s first cousin Prince Michael of Kent — has now shed some light on the 75-year-old sovereign’s habits.

Winkleman, who describes the monarch as a “very dear friend”, claimed that he barely gets any sleep at night.

“I spend a bit of time with him,” she told Tatler, going on to reveal that Charles regularly stays up until the sun is close to rising.

She continued: “You see how he works all day long, has a quick supper and then disappears until about 4am to write letters. He cares about so many things, and he comes up with brilliant solutions.”

She added that she’s “really good friends with all” members of the royal family, calling them “fun, clever, kind people” when they are “behind the camera.”

“I love Sophie Edinburgh, Sarah Chatto, Zara, the York girls, Tim and Princess Anne, Fergie, all the Kents and Gloucesters,” said the actress. “I love Kate and William, but they’re so busy and don’t live in London, so I don’t see them much.”

Meanwhile, Charles’ sleeping pattern will work perfectly for the royal when he reportedly heads over to Australia next year with his wife, Queen Camilla.

King Charles is planning to visit Australia and New Zealand in October,” a diplomatic source told the Sydney Morning Herald earlier this month.

The visit, which is expected to coincide with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa next year, will also mark the royal couple’s first time in Australia since 2018. CHOGM is a week-long event, held every two years, and involves 56 developed and developing nations including Australia, Malaysia, Rwanda, India, Jamaica, Canada and New Zealand.

“It would be next October, it’s very possible it will happen. It would be around the time of CHOGM that he would come, either before or after, that would make sense,” the government source told the publication.

Late star’s daughter‘s sad personal update - news.com.au

Meadow Walker and Louis Thornton-Allan have announced they are getting a divorce.

The two – who got married in 2021 – shared the news on social media on Wednesday.

The daughter, 25, of the late Hollywood actor Paul Walker shared the news on Instagram in a joint statement, reports The Sun.

“After three wonderful years of marriage, we have come to the agreement to amicably separate,” the post read.

“This is truly a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy. We maintain and mutual love and respect for one another, and will continue to support each other.”

‘Love you!’

In the comment section, fans sent Meadow positive messages as she endures a new chapter in her life.

“Sending love,” one wrote.

Many others commented: “Love you.”

A third said: “Nothing but love and respect for you!!”

Their relationship

Meadow and Louis confirmed their relationship as they shared a photo of themselves on Instagram in July 2021.

On October 22, the two tied the knot in a beach wedding in the Dominican Republic in front of friends and family.

Paul’s Fast and Furious co-stars Vin Diesel, 56, and Jordana Brewster, 43, also attended her special day.

Vin, who is Meadow’s godfather, even walked her down the aisle.

More about Meadow

Meadow Walker was born in Northern California on November 4, 1998. She is 25 years old and has a successful modelling career.

YouTube star dead at 37 amid police probe - news.com.au

A YouTuber has been found dead by his ex-girlfriend at his home in Brazil as police investigated his alleged history of sharing child abuse images.

Paulo Cezar Goulart Siqueira, known as PC Siqueira to his two million subscribers, died on Wednesday afternoon aged 37, reports The U.S. Sun.

The influencer was well-known for his social media content, presenting work, and comic book colouring as well as his appearances on TV programs including MTV Brasil, PlayTV, and TBS Brasil.

His ex-girlfriend, Maria Watanabe, is said to have discovered him dead in his Sao Paulo apartment and sought help from a neighbour who called the police.

Coroners reportedly recorded his death as a suicide.

Siqueira was being investigated for allegedly sharing vile pictures of children when he died.

Brazil’s Public Security Secretariat said earlier this month: “The case continues to be investigated by the 4th Pedophilia Repression Police Station of the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection.

“Details about the progress of the investigation will be preserved, due to the secrecy decreed by the Court.”

According to local media, Siqueira was accused of sharing disturbing images of a six-year-old child on June 10, 2020.

An anonymous X account is said to have released phone screen recordings in which he could supposedly be seen talking to a friend about what was alleged.

He deactivated his YouTube channel after providing a statement to police, Brazilian newspaper O Globo reported.

In 2021, the Superintendence of the Technical-Scientific Police of the Public Security Secretariat of Sao Paulo reportedly said it had not found evidence to incriminate him for pedophilia.

The investigation was under judicial secrecy.

Siqueira denied the accusation and told his followers that it was “criminal articulation” to try and accuse him of “something terrible, which I have never committed or would commit”.

He was reportedly saved by firefighters from a suicide attempt in March this year.

In an online statement to his fans shared the following day, he said: “Dear friends and enemies: yesterday I had a manic episode that got out of control, I exposed myself and my partner wrongly, and was followed by a new suicide attempt.

“I was rescued by the fire department and I am truly grateful for the special kindness of the sergeant who accompanied me. I’m fine and safe. Maria [Watanabe, his then girlfriend] is also safe and well.”

New details about actor’s sudden death - news.com.au

Parasite star Lee Sun-kyun reportedly asked police not to publicise information about ongoing investigations into his alleged drug use in the days before his death.

The South Korean actor, 48, was found dead inside a car near Waryong Park in central Seoul at 10.30am on Wednesday, local time.

He had been under investigation for illegal drug use since October. According to reports, the star claimed that he was tricked into taking drugs.

Lee had been questioned three times by police, including for 19 hours last weekend.

Now, reports suggest Lee had asked police not to announce his last appearance for questioning but his request was refused.

Drug offences, including those involving usage of marijuana, are considered serious crime in South Korea. Consumption of marijuana carries prison sentences of up to five years.

The actor reportedly tested negative for drugs in two recent tests but media coverage regarding his police interviews was intense.

Lee’s lawyer said on Tuesday, a day before the star’s body was found, he hoped any future interrogations would be conducted behind closed doors, saying his client felt “burdened” by appearing in public settings to discuss the allegations.

But the head of the district police force that investigated the actor defended his legal treatment, saying the process was justified and done with Lee’s consent.

“The investigation of the deceased was conducted based on specific reports, testimony and evidence and under legally prescribed procedures,” Incheon Metropolitan Police chief Kim Hui-jung said.

Former South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who was a human rights lawyer before entering politics, criticised police practice and sensational media reporting of the case.

“The practice that does huge damage to someone’s honour and character, such as excessively putting them at a media photo line, and pushes them to take the extreme choice must now end,” Moon said on Facebook.

Tributes poured in for the actor following the tragic news.

“He was amazing in Parasite and Hard Day. This is extremely tragic,” one fan wrote.

“He was such a great talent in everything I’ve seen him in, but I can’t even think up any tribute because all I can think of is the tragic and heartbreaking circumstances leading up to his death and how this road is such a common story you hear from the industry,” another fan tweeted.

In Parasite, Lee starred as Park Dong-ik, the patriarch of the wealthy Park family that is, one by one, infiltrated by members of a poorer family posing as highly qualified employees.

The critically acclaimed thriller swept awards at the Oscars in 2020, including best picture. It was the first non-English language film to win the prize.

In 2021, Lee won a Screen Actors Guild award for “cast in a motion picture” for his role. He was nominated for the best actor at the International Emmy Awards for his performance in the sci-fi thriller Dr. Brain last year.

Lee was a familiar figure on Korean screens for decades before his Parasite fame. He became well-known for his role in a popular drama series, Coffee Prince, and gained mainstream popularity with the medical drama Behind The White Tower, followed by Pasta and My Mister.
