The royal Harry is still turning to for 'emotional and financial' support - 9Honey

Prince Harry may have officially left the monarchy in March, but he's still turning to one royal for "emotional and financial" support.

The Duke of Sussex has remained in constant contact with dad Prince Charles since his royal exit, according to reports, and has been leaning on him for support.

"Since [Harry's] move to Los Angeles they have been in regular contact. Charles is not an avid user of texts but there are video and phone calls," one insider told The Sun.

There were rumours when Harry and Meghan Markle first announced their plans to leave the royal family that Charles had been "blindsided" and "hurt" by the decision.

But if that was the case, it looks like he and Harry have patched things up since, the two maintaining a close bond, even since Harry moved to LA earlier this year.

Even new rumours about Harry's exit published in the tell-all book Finding Freedom hasn't rocked their relationship, despite supposedly leaving other royals frustrated.

"They have a very strong and close father-and-son relationship," the source said.

"Many people have speculated that the book was the end for Harry and Meghan in Britain. But the Prince of Wales has made it clear the door is always open."

Though Harry shares a close relationship with his father, it's understood that Charles' role as heir apparent and Prince William's role as heir after him, left Harry at odds with his royal role.

As the "spare", Harry was more limited in his royal role and was expected to support his father and brother as they each prepare to one day be king.

"[Harry] would get so frustrated when he was told he couldn't do something," a royal insider told the authors of Finding Freedom, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand.

That frustration allegedly contributed to his eventual decision to leave the monarchy and his role as a senior royal behind.

"The palace approach would always be — how did we do it last time?" the insider said.

He wanted to do things differently and I think Meghan was the catalyst for him but also gave him the confidence which he lacked to change things."

Since leaving the monarchy, Harry and Meghan have been keeping a low profile in LA, where they self-isolated with their son Archie through the coronavirus pandemic.
