'The Masked Singer' production halted as show linked to seven new COVID-19 cases - 9News

Production of Channel Ten reality television show 'The Masked Singer' in Melbourne has been suspended after a crew member tested positive to coronavirus last week.
Seven new coronavirus cases have now been linked to the cluster, with more than 200 people connected to the Melbourne's set sent into isolation.

This includes the entire production team, including host Osher Gunsberg, judges Jackie O, Dave Hughes, Urzila Carlson, Danii Minogue and the celebrity masked singers.

Gunsberg is also the host of Ten's hit reality TV Show The Bachelor, putting any remaining filming of the show in jeopardy.

Production of the dating show was previously suspended in March due to COVID-19 fears.

A spokesperson for the Victorian health department told the Sydney Morning Herald "early investigations have determined that the site should close", with everyone who has attended the Docklands studio since Wednesday sent into isolation.

The suspension of production has been confirmed by the show in a statement published on Facebook.

"Production of The Masked Singer has been immediately suspended as a result of several crew members receiving a positive test result for COVID-19," the statement read.

"The health and safety of the community, and our staff and production partners is our number one priority."

The production team were "being monitored closely" and are in "constant contact" with medical authorities, the statement read.

"Network 10 is working closely with the Victorian Government and the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services.

"Network 10 is providing all crew with all the support and assistance possible.

"The Masked Singer will continue to air 7.30 Mondays and Tuesdays on 10."

The debut episode of Season Two aired last week, with 733,000 viewers tuning in across the capital cities.

It was one of the few major TV programs to continue filming during Melbourne's Stage Four lockdown.
