‘She’s a mess’: American singer blasted over horror Vivid Sydney show - Sky News Australia

American singer Sky Ferreira has left Sydney concertgoers fuming over her bizarre antics at a show at the Opera House.

The 31-year-old was performing at the iconic venue's Joan Sutherland Theatre on Sunday night as part of Vivid Live.

Her show was slated to begin at 7:30pm, according the Sydney Opera House website, but she controversially took almost an hour-and-a-half to make her way on stage.

According to one fan who provided a recap of the show, Ferreira finally came out at 8:52pm apologising for her late arrival. The show lasted for an hour and 10 minutes, finishing about 10pm.

The same fan said Ferreira "barely" addressed the audience over the course of the concert, lost her phone at one point in the show before finding it later and even stopped and restarted a song, which was a cover.

Another concert attendee shared a picture of the stage that was lit too dark for Ferreira to be seen.

"Sky Ferreira was an hour and twenty minutes late and then the whole is lit like this so you can't f***ing see a thing. A LOT of people left half way thru. Such talent but f**k me she's a mess," they said.

Dedicated fans have refused to criticise Ferreira, brushing the show off as typical behaviour with some saying she was "glowing", "gorgeous" and that the concert was a "10/10 experience".

The concertgoer complained of the entire show being "backlit" which made it difficult to see the musician, while the fog machine was also constantly running.

Ferreira played 16 songs, according to setlist.fm, with five songs that had been printed on the setlist not being performed.

Fans were fuming over the artist's late appearance however some were not surprised due to the singer's reputation of being tardy.

"Sky Ferreira is currently an hour late who else is not surprised," one said on social media platform X.

"Sky Ferreira showed up 80 mins late to her Sydney gig and is performing the whole show in the dark with her back turned the crowd, who's surprised?" another wrote.

Vivid Sydney's theme for 2024 revealed as ‘Humanity’

Sunday night was not the first time an artist has disappointed crowd members at a Vivid Live concert.

In 2018, American dreampop band Mazzy Star performed at the Opera House in a gig so contentious it had people heading for the exit door in the middle of the show.

The concert began at 9.40pm and was played entirely in the dark to the confusion of the crowd.
