Billy Ray Cyrus is “incredibly proud” of his daughter Miley Cyrus amid their rumoured rift.
The Achy Breaky Heart hit maker, 62, gushed over his popstar daughter, 31, on Instagram Friday alongside a throwback photo of the pair that was given to him by a fan.
“One of my best memories ever: @cma Fest, back when it was Fan Fair. That’s @mileycyrus and me, surrounded by thousands of incredible fans at the fairgrounds,” he began in his heartfelt caption.
The throwback photo was accompanied by a handwritten poem the country crooner said he brought to life on the bus the day after the snapshot was taken.
He went on to applaud Miley, her accomplishments and her heart. “I’m incredibly proud of her. She’s a survivor and a true artist,” he raved. “She learned early on to love and appreciate the fans who make everything possible.”
“We both cherish the connection we have with our fans and are grateful for every single one of you! Hope you all have a great Friday! Now rock the country!!!”
Billy Ray and Miley were incredibly close as she grew up and famously starred in Hannah Montana together. However, he claimed in 2011 the show “destroyed” his family and admitted he wished it had never been greenlit.
Miley seemed to be at odds with him in 2013 when he and her mother, Tish Cyrus, announced their divorce for the second time. The singer was apparently blindsided by the news and took to social media to call Billy Ray out, tweeting, “since your texts and email obviously aren’t working would you like to talk like this?”
Rumours of a serious rift between the musicians swirled in 2023 when the Wrecking Ball hit maker was not photographed at Billy Ray’s October 2023 wedding to Firerose — who is 27 years his junior. Coincidentally, the pair met on the set of Hannah Montana years ago and stayed in touch ever since.
Before that, Miley happily served as Tish’s maid of honour during her August 2023 nuptials to actor Dominic Purcell.
Miley also fuelled feud rumours during her 2024 Grammy acceptance speech after winning record of the year for her hit song, Flowers. She expressed gratitude to her mum, sister Brandi and boyfriend Maxx Morando, but failed to mention Billy Ray.
Following the snub, an insider told Us Weekly the actor has “tried reaching out to Miley many times” but she declined to accept his efforts.
“Miley and Billy Ray are on the outs,” the source further detailed. “Miley’s very close with her mom and is standing by her.”

Meanwhile, Tish and her youngest daughter Noah Cyrus were thought to be feuding after she allegedly got with Purcell after Noah had been involved with him.
However, it appears their relationship may be on the mend, as Noah wished Tish a happy 57th birthday on Instagram last month.
