Aussie influencer speaks on wedding leaks - news.com.au

An Aussie influencer has taken to TikTok to hit back at comments about details in her wedding invitation, which showed her asking guests to gift money and telling them not to bring their children along.

Tammy Hembrow addressed the issues to her more than two million followers, with the video viewed 864.6k times at the time of this writing.

“Get ready with me while I address these crazy headlines,” Ms Hembrow said.

“You guys might know that my wedding details recently got leaked online. Posted online accidentally.”

She clarified that she wasn’t “asking for donations” and that her “own children will be there”.

Ms Hembrow is set to tie the knot with former Love Island star Matt Zukowski in Byron Bay later in November this year.

In the video, she explained her invitation informed guests about the “wishing well”, which allows friends and family the chance to gift money instead of a typical material wedding gift.

“Your presence on our day is the greatest gift of all. However, if you would like to gift us something, a wishing well will be at our wedding for your contribution and well wishes,” the invitation states.

While this type of request is growing in popularity across modern day weddings, what caused the stir was that the Australian Financial Review’s Young Rich List states the fitness entrepreneur has a net worth of around $50 million.

Ms Hembrow has stated that she thinks “a wishing well is a pretty normal thing for people to have at weddings”.

“We literally only had it because I kept having people ask me like ‘oh, what about gifts? What do you want?” she said.

“I’m pretty sure every wedding I have ever been to has had that.

“None of my friends and family thought it was weird.”

As for the other detail people took issue with, Ms Hembrow addressed the request for no children and if her children, Wolf, 9, Saskia, 7, and Posey, 1, would be in attendance.

“People think I’m not going to have my kids at my wedding. Of course, my children are going to be at my wedding,” she said.

“I don’t want other people bringing their kids because let’s be real, kids can be a bit full on. I want the other adults to be able to relax and enjoy themselves.”

The invitation states: “While we love your babies our wedding will be child free. Babysitting can be arranged upon request. Bubs are more than welcome to join us at the recovery party on Sunday”.

Child free weddings are also a rising new norm for weddings across the globe, with many putting a ban on children attending wedding receptions. The main reasons range from children are often left bored and can cause disruptions, to safety issues as alcohol is usually involved at receptions.

Those in the comments of her video supported the wishing well, with one person stating “I don’t know a wedding that hasn’t had a wishing well ha”.

“I’ve never been to a wedding without a wishing well. We had a wishing well – I didn’t want 8 toasters and a slow cooker,” one woman commented.

She also received support for her choice of a child free wedding, with one person saying that their child free wedding “was amazing”.

“As a mum I think child free weddings are the bomb! Literally the best excuse for a very rare night out (and) to celebrate with other adults. A kid free wedding is the best wedding,” one person commented.
