The real reason why King Charles snubbed a reunion with his youngest son Prince Harry has been revealed by a royal expert.
Prince Harry has been visiting the UK for three days to take part in a number of commitments related to the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, which he founded in 2014.
The 39-year-old had expressed a desire to meet up with his father during his brief visit before he flies back out to Los Angeles on Friday, however, he was brutally snubbed due to the King’s packed schedule.
"In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty's full programme," a spokesperson for Harry said earlier this week.
"The Duke, of course, is understanding of his father's diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon."
Royal expert for The Daily Mail, Richard Eden, has claimed what palace insiders said about the real reason why Charles turned down a meeting.
“He doesn’t need the drama in his life,’ the source said.
“Harry and Meghan have brought him, and the rest of the family, nothing but worries over the past few years.”
GB News host Patrick Christys on Thursday night suggested Queen Camilla may have affected the breakdown of a potential meeting.
“Prince Harry released a statement which was the kind of usual passive aggressive statement that you would get from the want away Prince,” Mr Christys told Sky News Australia host Andrew Bolt.
“What we think is going on is that King Charles is reluctant to meet Harry without Camilla in the room, and Prince Harry is reluctant to meet King Charles with Camilla in the room. So, we end up with this ridiculous situation.”
An insider close to Charles and Camilla echoed this sentiment, claiming the "cruel and hurtful things" Harry said about the Queen Consort in his 2023 memoir Spare had caused further divide in the father-son relationship.
“Harry has made it very clear, very publicly, that he despises her. He has forced Charles to choose, which was a very silly thing to do because Camilla and he both chose each other a long time ago," the source told The Daily Beast.
"William had his reservations but he accepted his father’s choice and got on with it. Harry made a different decision, and one of the inevitable consequences of publicly calling your stepmother cruel names is that it becomes difficult for you to see your father.”
Harry has met his father just once since the King revealed in February he had been diagnosed with cancer.
