Star breaks silence after vicious attack - news.com.au

Actor Ian Ziering has broken his silence and shared his “deep concern” after being caught up in the “chaos” of a vicious attack on the streets of Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve.

In a video obtained by TMZ, the Beverly Hills, 90210 star can be seen driving down Hollywood Boulevard in LA before getting out of his car and fighting with a group of motorcyclists.

While his daughter was in the passengers seat, the video shows Ziering seemingly throwing the first punch at one of the bikers in front of his car before pushing the cyclist down on the ground. However, dozens of other fellow bikers then quickly jump in and surround the star.

Four of the helmeted members then gather around Ziering, and punch him for a few seconds before he tries to escape by running across the busy street.

On Monday, the actor took to Instagram to share details of the “alarming incident” and revealed he had been left “deeply concerned”.

He said: While stuck in traffic, my car was approached aggressively by one of these riders leading to an unsettling confrontation. In an attempt to assess any damage I exited my car. This action, unfortunately, escalated into a physical altercation, which I navigated to protect myself.”

He continued: “I am relieved to report that my daughter and I are both completely unscathed, but the incident has left me deeply concerned about the growing boldness of such groups who disrupt public safety and peace.”

“This situation highlights a larger issue of hooliganism on our streets and the need for effective law enforcement responses to such behaviour. As a citizen and a parent, I find it unacceptable that groups can freely engage in this kind of behaviour, causing fear and chaos, while the response from authorities seems insufficient.”

The actor added: “I have always been an advocate for standing up against intimidation and misconduct, and this incident reinforces my belief in the importance of personal and community safety”.

It’s unclear exactly what caused the altercation, but TMZ reported that one of the bikers seemed to clip Ziering’s car, which caused him to get out and punch the first person.

His oldest daughter, Mia, 12, was present for the entire ordeal and was seen getting upset watching her dad get attacked.
