Neeson, 71, had to be sheltered from the 30C sweltering sun upon arrival, before beginning his first scene involving a Mount Everest tour bus.

A makeup artist was seen applying fake blood to his temple, a small indication of the kind of action fans can expect from his upcoming sequel.

Ice Road 2 follows Mike McCann (Neeson), an ice road driver, who travels to Nepal to spread his brother’s ashes on Mount Everest.

While on a bus tour with his mountain guide, McCann encounters a group of Nepalese mercenaries, forcing the truck driver to fight to save not only his life but also the lives of the innocent passengers.

The movie is a sequel to the 2021 film The Ice Road also starring Neeson.

While some fans admitted it was odd to see the historical town transformed into a Nepalese marketplace, others were simply excited about Neeson’s presence.

“I’ve watched heaps of his movies,” one woman told 7NEWS.

“So ... it’s pretty exciting.”

The tiny town of Walhalla, home to only 20 people, underwent a major facelift for the movie, with several of its buildings painted vibrant colours and adorned with Nepalese signage and props.

Two main filming locations are being used, the first being the intersection of Main Rd and Right Hand Branch Rd and the second being the top of Churchill Rd above the Fire Station Museum.

Filming is scheduled to wrap on January 24 with the town to be returned to its previous condition from January 25 to 31.

The production has created almost 600 jobs for Victorians and is expected to inject over $30 million into the state’s economy.
