Doja Cat’s mother has filed a temporary restraining order against the pop star’s older brother over claims he has been “physically and verbally abusive” toward her daughter.
Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer has claimed in a newly-filed request that her 30-year-old son Raman Dalithando Dlamini knocked out the singer’s teeth in a shock physical altercation, reported TMZ.
She also alleges that Doja Cat received “cuts and bruises” at the hands of her older brother, who also supposedly destroying some of the star’s property.
The shocking filing marks the first time the claims of abuse against the singer have emerged publicly.
Mrs Sawyer’s continues by claiming that her son has left her daughter feeling “unsafe and traumatised” with his violent and aggressive behaviour.
She also alleges that Raman has also been physically abusive toward her “several times” over the past year and has gone so far as to threaten to kill her.
While it’s unknown how long the alleged abuse has been occurring, the documents claim her most recent violent encounter with her son occurred in early January.
A judge has since granted Mrs Sawyer’s request for a temporary restraining order against her son, however, the judge also confirmed that Doja Cat would need to file for one herself and that her mother was unable to do so on her behalf.
Doja Cat’s mother is an American graphic designer, while her father, Dumisani Dlamini, is a South African performer known for starring as Crocodile in the original Broadway cast of the musical Sarafina! and the 1992 film adaptation.
