Kim Cattrall has starred in a new trailer for the upcoming How I Met Your Father series, a spin-off to the highly successful sitcom.
Just because Kim Cattrall won’t appear on the Sex and the City spin-off, doesn’t mean she’s done with the small screen.
The 65-year-old will next be seen in the How I Met Your Mother spin-off series for Hulu, titled, you guessed it … How I Met Your Father.
The first trailer for the sitcom, premiering January 18, was released on Friday, and Cattrall’s character is front and centre.
Cattrall plays the future version of Hilary Duff’s character, Sophie. The show will follow Sophie telling her son the story of how she met his dad.
Cattrall starts off the almost-two-minute teaser: “This is the story of how I met your father. It was hard living in the moment in 2022. There was always someplace else you could be. Someone else you could be with.”
The show’s official longline said it’s “a story that catapults us back to the year 2021 where a [young] Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.”
The HBO alum and the Younger star, 34, are joined by a cast that includes the talents of Christopher Lowell, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran, Suraj Sharma and Josh Peck.
“I know this might sound crazy, but I’ve been on 87 Tinder dates this year,” says Duff’s Sophie. “It’s really hard to meet someone and connect and have it feel easy.”
“Today is the first chapter of my next great love story,” she declares to her friend, played by Lowell, while riding the subway.
The trailer also shows some NSFW shots – a very muscular naked British man, and two people having shower sex.
“Screw being mature. We can still make bad choices for a few more years,” notes Duff, while clad in a look reminiscent of her 2000s Lizzie McGuire days.
“We live in confusing times,” she laments.
The original CBS comedy ran for nine seasons, from 2005 until 2014.
Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan, Neil Patrick Harris and Cristin Milioti rounded out the ensemble cast. Bob Saget played the older version of Radnor’s Ted Mosby and narrated the series.
