Denmark's Princess Mary tests positive to COVID-19 - ABC News

The Crown Princess of Denmark, Mary, has tested positive for coronavirus, the royal court said in a statement.

The Australian-born royal is isolating in a wing of the Amalienborg Palace in the heart of Copenhagen and the virus has not been detected among other members of the family, it said on Wednesday.

"In connection with the test result, the Royal House of Denmark is receiving advice from the Danish Patient Safety Authority concerning detection of infection," the statement read.

"The Crown Princess will remain in isolation until it is once again safe to end the isolation according to the applicable guidelines."

Denmark's government was forced to reintroduce some restrictions last week, including remote learning for school students below grade 10, as COVID-19 cases surged.

Bars, nightclubs and restaurants were also ordered to close before midnight in a crackdown that was to last four weeks.

Denmark is one of a number of countries in the European Union that have started to immunise children against coronavirus.

Children are accounting for a majority of new cases in Spain, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands.

More to come.
